So, on short notice, my aunt and cousin come to visit/crash for the weekend with a colleague and her son. Two middle aged moms, two middle school kids. I'm excited to see my cousin and aunt but the apartment was definitely going to be at maximum capacity. It's simply not meant to house six people.
To make matters worse, the woman who's here with my aunt is a horrible houseguest. She's obnoxious, rude and is acting far too comfortable/intimate in her surroundings (my house!) for her own good. She brought her own candle and let it burn all night on the windowsill; she leaves her stuff all over the apartment: the bathroom, the windows, the table, the armchair; she was doing her makeup on our chair this morning instead of the bathroom and spilled; and tonight she clipped her toenails while sitting in the chair. This is a chair in my living room, on my area rug. It is not the bathroom or the outdoor deck. It was disgusting beyond words.
To top it all off, she was incredibly unpleasant to be around while touristing in the city. I took my aunt and cousin to Rockefeller Park and she and her son broke away. We met up with them at the ice rink--which we had agreed we wouldn't skate--and she had signed her son up for a skate session that was going to last an hour and a half. Without asking. She wanted my cousin to skate too, and for the rest of us to sit around for 90 minutes. No thank you! We left her, went to Soho/Chinatown and didn't meet up again until after dinner, thank god.
I'm so glad they're leaving tomorrow. Which is sad because I should be able to enjoy my relatives' company in peace.
