First Day Back to Clinical Since Nursing Home

Feb 01, 2005 16:47

I'm in X-ray in the hospital for this rotation, which is obviously very different from Breast Diagnostics. Lots of IV's being started >.< i'm not a big fan of needles, but i managed not to get queasy while other people were getting sticked. followed this really sweet lady around, but i forgot her name. she finally realized i wasn't there to observe the pain clinic and sent me to follow a radiology technician.

it's very strange to walk into a room and on the other side of the glass is a person getting a hemodialysis catheter threaded through her arm...well, they let me watch them doing this. i was feeling pretty good untill they started to clean up her blood. i got pretty light-headed, so i sat down. right when i sat down, one of the radiology technicians asks me if i wanna watch another IV. i said sure and got up to go follow her. got into the patient's room and i felt like i was going to pass out, so i left the room swiftly. I sat down at a desk and one of the ladies got me a cold, wet wash cloth to put around my neck. i eventually felt better.

i watched a radiology technician take x-rays of a lady's back and that's about all i had time for after feeling better. i went to lunch and made sure i got plenty to eat since i was still feelin a little light-headed. got back on the bus and went back to school.

nothing else happened

farewell.
