So, you've gotten a bunch of the classics already. It's been a while since I did my reading on this subject, but I'll do what I can from memory.
Mary wollstonecraft wrote a treatise on women's rights that was far ahead of its time.
The seneca falls convention had a declaration of rights for women.
Gayatri spivak has an article called Can the subaltern speak, which is a classic.
I'm a big fan of drucilla cornell's The Imaginary Domain as an idea of how the law should work from a feminist perspective, but not sure that it rises up to the status of classic.
And I think Susan Ostrander's Women of the Upper Class is a great study on the intersection of gender, class, and era in showing how performative gender changes based on socioeconomic roles.
I know I'm weak on titles, but am hoping that google can help you out. Doing this from a blackberry, my browsing is a bit limited. Have fun! The gender studies and queer studies library constitute all of the best reading I've ever done in my life.
Hi, Hyoun! I appreciate your coming by, and doing so from a Blackberry, no less!
I'm going to take a look at all of those! I'm not sure specifically what I'm looking to concentrate on reading-wise just yet, I'm hoping it'll become clear to me once I start, but all these look great, and I absolutely will be Googleing some things as well.
Again, thank you for coming to suggest titles, Hyoun. I can tell already they'll be v. helpful.
