[ Jilles is hanging around Gastros, trying to get some rest. If there are any better places to do that, he doesn't know them; besides, this is where he'd first woken up. That makes it kind of like home, and 'kind of' is enough for him to cling to.

He's sitting on the side of the street with his eyes closed when he hears someone coming by. He looks up; a blonde. Something about her is bugging him, and it's not just the glowing arms. Though that was pretty odd. ]

[How are you supposed to react when some guy stares at you from the side of the road? Probably not like Hyacinth does. She zeroes in on Jilles, poor guy, and strides over briskly.]

You. On your feet.

[Hyacinth can sense weakness. It really makes her life easier.]

I'm going to need a tour, a home, and a job, and you're going to help me.

[ Jilles blinks at her. Eh?

He gets up slowly, and responds even moreso. ]

Uh, hello. What, are you new here?

Very. Just stepped off the crazy train. Where the hell am I? And don't just say "Laceurs", because that doesn't answer shit.

I'm sorry. [ He looks at her sympathetically. ]

This is Gastros, which is part of Laceurs. If you mean where is Laceurs, I have no f****** clue. In a world that isn't yours or mine, probably.

Excellent. Excellent and helpful. Really, you are. I am entirely informed about my situation.

[Her tone is absolutely secreting sarcasm.]

Tell me about Laceurs. Little blonde bitch from earlier didn't say anything useful.

[ Jilles keeps looking at her, kind of blankly. He somehow gets the idea that she might have meant that sarcastically, probably because she immediately contradicted it, and chooses to ignore it. ]

Well, first of all it's a s***hole. Most everyone I've met here says they were kidnapped somehow. Apparently there's a guy called the Autocrat who's in charge. There's no way to contact home that I know of, and they won't let you leave, although pretty much everyone wants to escape.

Kidnapped. Fucking fantastic. How? And don't say magic. If I hear someone say magic one more time, I am going to flip a table.

[So. Kidnapped. Autocrat is in charge and is untouchable. No matter - she's Hyacinth Kennedy, and she can do anything with some brains and a blunt object.]

I'm guessing nobody's ever escaped before?

[Well, she's going to change that.]

[ He shrugs. ] Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't think so. Apparently a lot of people have tried and failed, though.

Failure is never an option.

[Hyacinth's views on failure are contradictory. While she sees failure as a learning experience (the best kind of experience), it's still... Well, it's failure, and she doesn't tolerate failure.]

Who are you?

It's not, but you don't have to choose it for it to happen.

[ He tilts his head slightly. ]

I'm Jilles. And you?

Hyacinth Kennedy.

[She leaves out the "your lord and savior" part. That's only for the freaky bird people.]

Do you personally know somebody that's failed to escape?

Nice to meet you, Hyacinth. [ This isn't particularly true, but he's being polite. ]

The first girl who explained things to me said that she tried, but she didn't go into detail.

[I don't think anybody's ever meant it when they said "nice to meet you" to Hyacinth.]

Well, she should have tried harder. Guess I'll have to take her place as resident escapologist.

To be fair, she was a kid, and it's impressive enough that she was doing as well as she was.

There can be more than one. There already is. Still, I really do wish you luck with that.

[ He's trying to look at her face, and doing a decent job, but his eyes and attention keep being drawn to her arms. ]

I'm going to be the best. It's kind of inevitable.

[... Okay, Jilles, stop that. Can everyone stop that?]

Yes, my glowing hands are truly fasinating, but do make an effort to, you know, look at me.
