the kuala lumpur diaries (without pictures)

sitting too much in the office/lab is giving me a paunch. which sucks, because when i work out, my tummy disappears and becomes toned and flat, even before i finish my work out; but when i am not working out, my paunch comes back! i hate it. argh.

and today, i think i will go to get the braun satinliner for my hair. i have reason to believe that it is time to get a hair straightener for myself.

the trip to kuala lumpur was good. i wouldn't say it was amazing, because some things fell short. but overall it was a good trip! =) bought a pair of enzo angiolinis which i've been looking for for a very long time! so that was good. we managed to visit almost everything there is to see at kl. we even went to a pewter and batik factory lol!

so... on the first day we went to petaling street (aka chinatown). it was really, like just any other china town. haha. hawkers and stuff, and suddenly xav became everyone's "brother" hahahaha. didn't walk much that day cos we were sooo tired. ok, actually only i was tired. and it rained in the evening. so we stayed in. we also went to times square cos i felt like doing some shopping, but sadly, it fell short of my expectations. times square is like far east times ten. street wear for teenagers all over. nothing that suited my taste. but xav got his tripod there, which would come in handy for the shots of the towers later on. had dinner at kenny rogers and the chicken was fantastic! i think they tasted better than the kenny rogers here.

on the second day, we went to everywhere else. we went to the batik and pewter factories as well as the batu caves in which some monkeys made their homes. some of them were scary, grabbing the flowers off some kid's neck, snarling at people who got too close... etc. i liked the caves, and so did xav (but i think he liked the monkeys more).

after that we went back to the hotel, and ordered room service lunch! woo hoo! never had room service before in my entire life, so this was fun hee hee. and the food was amazing, i must say. waited for half an hour for it though. then, it rained again, so we stayed in for a while, and had mandarin lessons. lol. after that, we went to the central market (it's like pasar malam) and then to the petronas towers and it was pretty cool! as xav puts it, it looks very "futuristic," and i have to agree. can totally imagine flying cars and such whizzing in between. then we shopped for a while in suria klcc and sadly, i didn't find anything to get either. had dinner at this wonderful restaurant called "madam kwan's." xav had this char kuay teow and i had this mushroom & chicken rice and both were SUPERB!!!! omg. i will go back there again if i am in kl. and then for dessert we had banana fritters and ice cream, which were also heavenly! after dinner, it was past ten.

we decided to walk around and take more pictures of the towers. then we came to zouk kl and it was nice! we didn't go into the club but stayed where the queues were. nice cars. it seems like the crowd there is a little older than the one in sg. more of 20 somethings rather than 16s and 18s. we walked some more and came to this street all lined up with bars, clubs and restaurants and cabs. i don't know what that street is called, but it was fantastic! we wanted to go into beach club cafe but didn't. plus, my foot started acting up again. so we walked and made our way to the kl tower and by then it was past midnight, probably one. of course it was closed, but at least we got there. and then we took a cab back and concussed.

on the final day, we woke up for breakfast like on the previous days and then went back to our room and slept for longer. until we check out, basically. haha. tired lor!!! we left our bags at the luggage store and walked around for a bit. we decided to go shopping and made our way to pavilion along jalan bintang, which is also a famous street. lots of shops, eateries etc... busy street too. and in pavilion were what i'd call my kind of shops. guess, coach, nine west, ax, burberry, furla, braun buffel, gucci, mac cosmetics... mid-high end brands. and this was where i got my enzo angiolini's at nine west (RM195). love love love!

then we had to leave to go get our luggage and go to ancasa hotel lobby to catch out coach back. and here, we got screwed. the hotel receptionists didn't know that the coach was coming, and told us to go to puduraya station, which was just beside the hotel. so we ran like crazy and tried to find the bus, but it wasn't there! we asked around, but no one seemed to be going to singapore. and it was like, totally stuffy and hot and suffocating in the bus bay (it's like a basement carpark with little light) and we were lost. for like 10 minutes, it seemed like we were on an episode of the amazing race! in the end we went back to the hotel lobby and i asked a guy if he was waiting for the coach to go to singpore, and he said yes. omg. super relieved, because it meant that we hadn't missed it (it was about 5 minutes after the bus was scheduled to leave). did i mention we managed to get some donuts while we were rushing for time? yeah we did. we're crazy. but it was dunkin' donuts! =)

all ended well though. we got on the bus (it was a double decker but had no tv) and voila, we were on the way home. i even managed to sleep a little in the bus, which isn't normal for me, since i'm someone who can't sleep when i'm not fully lying down.

so that sums up the trip to kl. where to next???? maybe bangkok. =) pictures will be up soon!!!
