Summary: Holmes just wants to say Merry Christmas early.

Author's Notes: Late. Fell asleep. I know.
Watson was awoken on Christmas morning by the not-so-unusual sensation of someone crawling into his bed with him. Well, not unusual as long as it was Holmes, and not Mrs. Hudson having finally been driven insane but her other, less gentlemanly lodger. He turned around just to be sure, and saw that Holmes had already fallen asleep again.
“Holmes,” he whispered with a small smile, “I know you're awake.”
“Mmm. Was awake. Tired.” Holmes buried his face in the pillow he was slowly commandeering from Watson.
“If you're in here about a case, I will be very upset. It's a holiday. For everyone.”
“Everyone except St. Nicholas, you mean.”
It really was ridiculous that Holmes could argue even as he was falling asleep. Perhaps, Watson thought, if he'd know that before hand he never would have moved in with the man.
Unfortunately, on reflection, he knew that was unlikely to be true.
“He works on Christmas Eve, if we're taking fairy stories into account.” Watson tugged some of the pillow that was still edging towards the other man. “Why are you here, then?”
Holmes blinked a handful of times, concentrated for a moment, and then gave a small smile. “Merry Christmas, Watson.”
Watson sighed and settled the pillow between them. “Merry Christmas, Holmes. Do you mind if I sleep in for a while?” He had no intention of doing anything else, but it was only polite to ask.
“Not at all, as long as I can stay.”
“You can stay as long as you can share, as well.”
“Yes, mother.” Holmes closed his eyes again, and Watson knew that if he wasn't already asleep, he would pretend to be until he decided to leave. He couldn't really bring himself to mind.
