things i like that begin with the letter A, plus ramblings.

Comment to get a letter, and make a list of things you like beginning with that letter.
[although I'm pretty sure all of you guys have gotten a letter already]
quirkyquills  gave me the letter A
  • Alex. This goes without saying. The past three months (as of Tuesday!) that we've been together have been so wonderful. Not only are we so great relationship-wise, we're also able to work together making music, which is honestly (and I know this sounds cheesy) more than I ever dreamed. BLAHH CHEESINESS OVER.
  • AP Classes. Well, most of them. Even though I'm taking a hellish load of classes (6 APs and Latin 5? Heck yes.) I enjoy them so much! :] I really think I made the right decision because I actually feel motivated to do things in those classes, unlike last year, in which I did absolutely no homework at home.
  • Apple cider mixed with orange juice. Seriously, you guys, try it. It's best if you mix 2 parts cider with 1 part orange juice. I used to drink this at my grandma's house when I was younger, so my siblings and I would call it "grandma juice". Isn't that darling.
  • Autumn. This happens every year.. I don't notice the trees slowly changing color all through September and then one day in October I just wake up all of a sudden and see the beautiful transformation that has occurred under my nose. I walk to school now and at this time of year, my walk coincides with the sunrise and it has been positively breathtaking the past few days, pink and orange against the yellow leaves, the smell of fall in every cold gust of wind..
  • Accordions. Thankfully, Alex likes them too, so once we get money, that is one of the first instruments we are going to get to use in our music, along with a not-crap keyboard, a cello, and a theramin. We made a promise to do our best to never use guitar in a song because everyone and their mother does.
  • Afternoons. I love love love getting home before 3pm every day. I have free time again and Alex and I almost always hang out and we love to take afternoon walks by the creek by my house. It is lovely :]
  • A lot else but I can't think right now.
The concert was lovely :] There were some drunk jerks there who had come to see the band before us, an angry punk band with obscene lyrics, who did not appreciate our music, to say the least, and were not hesitant to let us know, but I think we handled it really well. Everyone we brought along really seemed to enjoy it. I was totally not nervous at all.. I thought I would have a little bit of stage fright, but once I got up there I just felt this surge of confidence like I was doing something right and my voice on the first song did exactly what I wanted it to and it was wonderful. Maybe we'll get some songs from the live recording on our myspace. Unfortunately, we STILL don't have recordings because the guy we're recording with is truly terrible at keeping in touch with us. Since it's taken us so long to record with him, I think we're going to find someone else next time we record, even though it will probably cost us more.

Oh! Also! We are signed up to be in a battle of the bands on December 13 at Jaxx. There will be 8-10 other bands playing with us and our time slot is based on how many tickets we sell, so we could be performing anywhere from 4 to 9pm. I think we should be able to sell a lot, though, because there's lots of people that wanted to come last time but couldn't because of curfew. So if you guys are interested, let me know! I'd love to have you there!
If we win, we get to move on to the next level and if we win that, we get $500 and 20 hours of studio recording time, PLUS a headlining show. I don't have too much confidence that we'll win just because we're rather.. experimental, but it's still a really good opportunity to get some people who don't know us personally interested in our music. Also, if we sell at least 30 tickets, the company organizing it will continue to work with us in the future and will sign us up as an opening act for another band that comes to the club. So winning all around!

Anyway. Lots of happy news, things I am fond of, and random babblings. That's all!

x erin
