hallucinating

last night, i reluctantly drove home from luis' house. it was already around 4am or so. it's great to forget about time and just go and have fun, but eventually we all must come to the grown up realization that the night at one point must end. and we give in to biological demands for sleep. so as my vehicle hummed quietly as i treked through the empty streets, i began to hallucinate a bit.

slowly, large segments of sidewalk slid out and began driving on the road with me. they were all over the place. behind me, next to me, up ahead and even one on the other side of the road, going against traffic. the large concrete sidewalk vehicles sprung to action so effortlessly as if they had been dormant, biding their time. waiting for the streets to be clear, so as to begin their patrol. they were about 1 and 1/2 times taller than my car with jagged pieces of concrete along their exterior. they moved smoothly on the asphalt, assumably on two treads like a tank. the one next to me was particularly ominous because there was a park bench on top of it.

eventually, i left them all behind. i guess they only had to patrol a certain area. i began seeing people that were walking on the road towards oncoming traffic. they were coming out of a fog. but they were much too fast to catch up to despite the fact that they were walking towards me. i got home. i was tired of chasing hallucinations. sidewalk tanks and fog dwellers.
