But I agree it is horrible. At least the court costumes survived. I wish them luck and hope they can financally survive the loss. At least it didn't happen right before the season opened.
Yeah, given that they apparently already had a huge fire many years ago that razed the theatre and destroyed their props stock, you'd think they'd have prioritized insurance in their budget after that. Then again, outdoor dramas usually operate on a shoestring and i bet they thought that lightning wouldn't strike twice.
Thing is, too, they are on the Carolina coast. I suppose its possible that, considering the prevalent tendency of hurricanes to strike that area, they might not have been able to GET insurance for "acts of god".
