I like your Ski Resort analogy because it is so "visual." In my mind's eye, I can actually see the dye molecules attaching to the fibers' surfaces at specific "active" sites. When no more skiers are getting on makes me think of "equilibrium." Adding more skiers makes me think of Le Chatelier's Principle: "When a system at equilibrium is subjected to a stress, it will shift in the direction that reduces the stress." Auf Wiedersehen.

Great analogy! I really like it!
Recently I started posting interestnig analogies I found on the web on blog.ygolana.com. I thought it could be a good idea to create a place where people can share useful analogies.
