Death Note with my Dad
I showed my dad the Death Note movie. When it was over (I stress "over"), we had the following interchange:
Me: The writers made an error in killing off L.
Dad: Why?
Me: Because he had the potential to be one of the great, memorable detective characters [i.e. long running].
Dad: Why?
Me: Because he's super smart and quirky.
Dad: Wait. Who's L?
(Perhaps in his defense I should mention that he'd mixed up L's and Light's names, not been completely oblivious to everything that happened on the screen.)
