....so I can't help but find it interesting that this chapter is numbered "-15"... previously there was another backstory/omake chapter numbered "-17", so... does this mean that KT has at least 15 other ideas for such chapters that haven't been written yet?

Also clearly Matsumoto has not changed one bit in fifty years.

Y-yeah seeing as she's already a shinigami when Renji and all were in academy... I wonder though when exactly she became fukutaichou? Unless she already IS and just isn't wearing her badge, but...

That's what I was wondering-- it's a possibility she isn't wearing her badge considering where she is-- sadly, it doesn't say. I wonder at what level are they allowed to customise their uniforms or if they always can.

Haha... I'd guess that the rules on uniforms is basically "if you can get away with it". Which means if you're CAPTAIN it's just a matter of either passing Yama-jii's approval (for example, Unohana's obi, Byakuya's scarf) or simply being too damn stubborn for him to bother telling you not to (for example, Shunsui's... everything). For lower-ranked shinigami the higher officers probably enforce the dress code within their own division, with a tendency to be a little more lenient with the upper seats that y'know, are probably more family with the captain and thus more likely to get away with crap. :D

....although I bet everyone other than Shunsui in 8th division has a strict dress code just because of Nanao. >_>;;

Actually now I kind of wonder if reason she wears her obi the way she does is because the traditional one doesn't hold her top closed as well. >D

But yeah I can totally see that. And I assume there's really no limitation on hair, at least.

It's entirely possible. XD Or... who knows, really.

I think Yama-jii's beard alone proves there's not limits on hair. :|
