They had to go and fucking cast Felicia Day in an episode this season, didn't they? Yes. Of course they did. Motherfuckers. So I've been watching it since then (7x20) and ... sort of enjoying it and sort of kind of boggling. Because while on the one hand I'm sortof kindof still pretty fond of those motherfucking Winchesters, in a way where I dedicated a good couple years of my life to Sam/Dean and then another year to Dean/Castiel, and so there's just no way you can stick Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki on a screen in front of me and I'm not going to root for them at least a little bit ...
... but on the other hand: where are they? Where are Sam and Dean Winchester? Sure, those guys look like them, and talk like them, and make fucking awful jokes about Anna-Nicole Smith like them - not fucking cool, btw, whoever wrote that episode. Not fucking cool and I'm embarrassed that Jensen was willing to read it - but that's not actually them, right? Because those guys don't even really seem to know each other. They definitely don't care much about each other. I know Sam and Dean aren't always that expressive - except wait! They are! They used to, like, touch each other! And get nervous when the other one got thrown against walls and stuff!
Also, they're really just ... kind of dumb now. Lol I'll just leave the Word of God in a bag while I walk into another room! lol I'll just leave a girl alone in a room with a possibly-vengeful spirit! WE'RE FINE. It's like they've been given the idiot ball.
Also wow, this season plot is ... kind of weird. I guess SPN is a mythology show now? <--- and the reason I'll never love it as much as I did in S1 and S2 (although I did enjoy 4/5) -- Freak of the Week shows have a special place in my heart and SPN just doesn't have any of that character anymore, and they also don't have the ensemble cast to carry off a mythology show, especially since the guys don't really have that chemistry anymore. Which I don't blame them for - 7 seasons is a long fucking time to keep working with the same person. But in some ways it's a shame.
I'll still watch the finale though. :-/
