You must have seen her dancing in the sand.

Let's be honest, we all knew it was only a matter of time until this bad boy happened. I haven't done a huge spam like this in a good, long while, but I figured Kyra was as good an excuse as ever to hop back on the wagon! And as it is fast approaching 2am and I have been staring at pictures of Kyra Sedgwick for hours upon hours now (read: words are ( Read more... )

I HAD HOPED YOU WOULD BE HOME BY NOW TO APPRECIATE THIS. (How was your trip? Fun times, I hope?)

Anyway, I'm so glad you like it! And I'm so happy you're home now so I have someone else to which I can properly flail. I finished the first season in about a week and I'm just about to finish the second (I'm in the middle of the two-part finale). Still love it, everything about it. I only fall more and more in love with Brenda (and Fritzy...and everyone else, to be honest) with every episode I watch. AND THAT CRAZY EPISODE AT THE END OF SEASON 2 WITH THE SHOOTER. What even! I completely did not see that one coming (and that was the episode in which she lost Kitty and if that wasn't adorable then I have no idea what your definition of adorable is).

And there were so many more little moments that I adored: WHEN SHE GOT ATTACKED IN SEASON 1 (that. scene. I cannot. discuss it.), her makeover ♥, the pregnancy scare, HER GOLDEN GLOBE-WINNING EPISODE, and there are probably about a million and four more that are slipping my mind at current. Perfection. Just all-around perfection.

My trip was lovely! I'll post some pictures later, but I made so many pictures it's hard to choose ones to post. ;) And I'm also busy cleaning up my room so I'm not sure yet when I'll come around to posting it but it will be done somewhere in the next two weeks, hopefully. Thanks for asking!

You mean the shooting that involved Provenza's gun? And also, she lost Kitty? I haven't seen season two in a while (I just finished season 3 and season 1 so now I'm moving on to season 2 again. ♥)

The scene where she gets attacked is one of my favorite scenes! When she's in the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror she's so vulnerable, when she puts the band-aid on her head... ♥ And when she's in the interview room she's classic Brenda. ♥ And yes her make-over ♥ It did cost her a lot though, haha. And did you also see the episode where someone advises her to use a different color lipstick because this one makes her mouth look huge? Or is that season three? I'm not sure right now. Which is the episode she won her Golden Globe for? IMHO she could have sent in any episode and she still would have won, I love Kyra as Brenda. ♥ Did you also see the scene I described a while ago, where she borrows a police car to get in someones garden? :P It's in the episode called 'The Butler Did It" from season one.

I'm so happy you love the show so much! I've been waiting for so long to have more The Closer fans on my friendlist! ♥ ♥ We seem to love a lot of the same things!

Of course, I can't wait to see pictures! I'm glad you had fun, darlin'.

Yep, the one with Provenza's gun. Maybe I'm just naive but that whole thing seemed so out of nowhere! And yeah, in one of the episodes at the end of season 2 (I think it's the one right before the finale, the same one with the shooting, but I could be wrong) Fritz leaves the door open and Kitty runs away for a while. And at the beginning Brenda's all distraught and she's running around the house calling the cat and going, "TREAT! TREAT! HEEEEEERE, KITTY KITTY KITTY." And it's adorbs.

when she puts the band-aid on her head...
Thisssss. I can't even. That entire episode, really, but mostly that scene, when she calls Fritz and her voice cracks. Poor thing. I haven't seen the lipstick episode yet, no, so that's probably in season 3, but the Golden Globe ep is one from the beginning of season 2 called "Slippin'" (they're investigating a shooting where two teenagers were killed in an Escalade; Fritz ends up tackling a guy to the ground in a parking lot, I don't know if you remember that but Kyra was fantastic in the final interview room scene). And yes, I saw that one a while back and completely thought of you when she jumped the wall!

And I totally just thought of this, but I was obsessed with the episode where she lost her bag. "I am losing my ability to function!" And how she leaves the note for Fritz that says "cancel all my credit cards" or something along those lines. I need a new bag for school and I am so stupidly tempted to get myself a giant black tote bag like hers.

Happy to oblige, my friend. I'm so glad I have some to discuss with! ♥

Awww yes I remember the Kitty thing now! Poor Brenda. ♥ Kitty is in a lot of great scenes. Remember the one where Fritz and Brenda are in Mexico and sergeant Gabriel had to watch Kitty and her kittens? ♥ I love how Brenda always refers to Kitty as "he". ♥ And when she took 'him' to the crime scene because 'he' was leaking. :')

Ahhh I need to watch "Slippin" again tonight, I see. Can't wait to see it, I do remember the storyline a bit but I can't remember any details so that means I HAVE to watch it soon again. :)

Haha yeah I love that bag of hers! Is that the episode where she had to wear her moms glasses. Speaking of her mom, don't you just love her too. ♥ And I sooo know what you mean, I've been tempted to buy a big like that too. A friend of mine had a black bag like that (well obviously it's not as amazing as Brenda's) but it's smaller than Brenda's but every time she takes that bag to school it reminds me of The Closer... hmmm... does that mean I'm obsessed with the show... ? ;)

Also what I wanted to ask you: are you also watching season 6? It's airing now in America: 6 episodes have already been aired.

Also I'm going through old magazine and cutting out little pictures that I like (mostly when I like the outfit, I'm going to make a little book with nice outfits in it so I can maybe go through it before I'm going shopping or something. Yes, I'm an idiot.) And I came across two pictures of Kyra (totally typed Brenda again at first) and one is Kyra with Kevin. ♥ I cut those out too eventhough she's wearing dresses on them that I can't wear ever, because those are dresses that she wore to award shows, but who cares, lol. ♥

Do they go to Mexico in the season 2 finale? I haven't finished it yet and I could totally be making it up, but I think I remember reading that that's where they went for Brenda's ~special mission. If so, I haven't seen that yet. Although I do remember a scene where Gabriel was at her house taking care of the kittens so maybe that happened more than once?

YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT AGAIN. Whoever directed it did a fantastic job, as well; there's this one scene where Brenda and Gabriel are riding to one of the victim's parents' house to tell them about their son and the way they edited it blew my mind. They flash between Bren and Gabriel in the car and another scene and it just...works so well. (Now I want to re-watch it!)

Nope, I think she had to wear her mom's glasses that one time because she lost hers. (She loses things a lot, apparently. It's so endearing.) I've literally been searching around online for a similar bag online (I guess QVC actually made a "The Closer"-inspired bag and was selling it a few summers ago? But they don't sell it anymore, unfortunately. I'm so mad I missed it!) and have found a few semi-similar ones but nothing I like enough to actually buy. I'm going out one day next week so I'll have to see if anything catches my eye. ;)

I'm not currently watching season 6, no. I was planning on it when I first started watching, but 1) I've never actually been home yet on a Monday night to sit down and watch and 2) I don't want to get confused and have to pick up on whatever the current ongoing storylines are. Like, I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard since the episodes work so well as stand-alones, but I figure I'll just wait until I finish the rest and I'll definitely be caught up by next summer so I can watch S7 in real-time.

Aw, that is such an adorable idea! She's on the cover of More magazine this month and every time I went out with my friends I'd see it and flail, so finally I just broke down and bought myself a copy. She looks freaking adorable, not to mention the article is pretty great, too. You can read it here if you're interested: http://www.more.com/2049/23035-kyra-sedgwick-the-closer-opens

No the episode I was refering too is somewhere in the first season. It's the one called 'Good Housekeeping'. This rich family has a housekeeper from Mexico and she also has her daughter with her, and the son of the rich family rapes and murderes the daughter. She was found in the water. The son flees to Mexico and Brenda makes a deal that means that he has to go to prison in Mexico. I don't think she goes to Mexico in the season two finale, but I can be wrong. I do love the special mission though, she's supposed to do it alone, but you'll find out how that turns out. ;)

I'm going to watch it again soon! I just need to see the season one finale, and then I can start watching season two again. But now that you described a little more of the episode it does ring a bell! I think I know which episode you're talking about. If it's the episode I'm thinking of then it's a great episode (but seriously, which episode of The Closer isn't so this is a sentence I could have written about every episode).

Haha, yes Brende loses things a lot. Cute ♥. I haven't been searching for it lately but I'm going shopping next Friday and our whole conversation made me want to have that bag even more so if I happen to run in to it I'm sooo buying it.

Ah yes, I see what you mean. It's much more fun to know seasons one till five before you start watching season six.

Ahhh that interview is made of adorableness. ♥

“Kevin has to share me with more of the world now than he signed up for,” she says with a wry smile.

She admits she is having a very hard time letting go, since being a mother is “how I define myself. I’d put it first on my résumé. It’s like, you’ve had this job forever, it’s the job you always wanted to do, and you were pretty good at it. Then you get fired for no reason!”

She laughs, then adds that she has been literally scheming for quality time with Sosie, keenly aware that high school seniors typically have priorities other than hanging out with Mom. “I set my alarm to wake up so I can see her,” Sedgwick says. “I don’t make plans on weekday evenings in case I can spend time with her. It’s pathetic; I don’t care.” ♥

About Kevin: “I remember sitting around a rehearsal table, and every time I looked up from the script, he would be staring at me. I thought, He thinks I’m awful. Later, he told me, ‘I was looking at you because I thought you were so hot.’ ”

“She’s a cross between Mary Poppins and Cruella De Vil,” Bailey jokes. “If you show up on time and know your lines, she’s all sugar and spice. If you’re late and haven’t done your homework, she’ll skin you and make a coat out of you. I’ve been in this business almost 40 years, and I’ve never seen anyone who works like she does-first one there, last to leave.” On the set, the cast jokingly calls her Mama. Awwww I think I love him just as much as I love Provenza haha ♥

Also can you imagine what happened if she didn't take the job on The Closer! We would probably not even be obsessed by her, which would be a shame because she's lovely!

“You know what it’s shattered my trust in? The government taking care of us. The S.E.C. knew-they knew.” Hmm... why did I read this with Brenda's voice in mind and not Kyra's, haha. It sounds like such a Brenda thing to say.

Yes, I did just quote the whole interview eventhough you've already read it. I can't help it, she's just adorable. And this interview made me love her as an actress more because I think she couldn't be more different from Brenda Leigh if she tried. &hearts

Okay then I was totally making that up about the S2 finale, but I do remember that season 1 episode now. I had forgotten that they actually WENT to Mexico but I can completely picture the interview scene and everything now. (Is it time for a season 1 re-watch already?! I actually ended up going back and watching scenes from "Slippin'" again last night instead of finishing season 2. Go figure.)

How cute would it be if we both got matching Brenda bags? I am all about this idea.

RIGHT? I love everything about the article. It's sitting on my dresser and if I'm bored I'll just pick it up and read it...again. And speaking of her kids (I can't remember if you have a Twitter or not but), did you see her birthday tweet last night? I get a text whenever she tweets and I woke up to a message that said: "Wonderful bday, spent with my Closer family. A singing telegram from hubby, flowers and calls from my kid and lots of love from everyone!" (Singing. telegram. ♥)

can you imagine what happened if she didn't take the job on The Closer
I don't even want to think about this, the thought is too horrible. Not like I needed another obsession, but...

And this interview made me love her as an actress more because I think she couldn't be more different from Brenda Leigh if she tried. ♥
Have you watched her Inside the Actors Studio? The whole thing is on Youtube (I could find you a link but I'm sure it'll come up easily in a search). It really highlights a lot of what I love about her as an actress. She's just so passionate about what she does and she wants to bring such a realness and an authenticity to her characters because she doesn't want to do them any sort of disservice. And I think that is amazing. (Not to mention she tells a whole slew of other adorable stories, as well!)

Also, unrelated but slightly related, have you heard that song Kevin wrote about Kyra? I got my hands on a copy of one of The Bacon Brothers' CDs and aside from how cute it is that Kevin writes songs about Kyra, I actually really like their music! I can upload it for you if you're interested! Or just that song, or whatever.

Haha, it's always time for a The Closer re-watch. ;)

Ahhhh that would be the cutest thing if we both got matching Brenda bags!

Aww that tweet is so cute! A singing telegram. ♥ "Closer family" ♥

Not like I needed another obsession, but...
We both don't need more obsessions. I think we have enough now, but I also think that we'll have plenty of new ones next year around this time. ♥

Yes, I have seen some parts of her Inside the Actors Studio interview once, but I haven't seen the whole thing yet, I'll put that on my to do list!

I haven't heard the song he wrote about Kyra, I have read about it (I think it was in the interview you sent me the link of, I'm so ashamed that I can't even say for sure, I read it like an hour ago lol). And I'm interested in hearing that! And his other music too, I only have "footloose" by The Bacon Brothers, I listen to it all the time, but that's a classic. I haven't heard any of his other music, ever.

Obsessed with the "Closer family" bit. B'aw.

I will inevitably always somehow manage to find myself a new obsession. It's like a law of the universe or something, I swear.

Yeah, it was mentioned pretty briefly in that article, so when I read it I did some investigating I managed to track down a copy of The Bacon Brothers' album "Getting There" at the library. The Kyra-inspired song is called "Arm Wrestling Woman", but I feel like a lot of the other songs that Kevin's written could be about/for her, too. Anyhow, here's a download link for that album (although I know my Sendspace uploads have been a little hit-or-miss in the past, so let me know if it doesn't work or it's not the whole thing)!

Awww thank you so much (does that sentence remind you of someone ♥) for uploading the whole album! I'm listening to it right now, I love it. And yes it sounds like a lot more songs could be Kyra-inspired! How cute is that. ♥

Also I don't know if you still make icons or picspams about episodes of tv-shows but I just realised that I screencapped "Slippin" a while ago. ♥ I saw the episode last night, and a couple of days ago when I said that I thought I remembered which episode it was, I was right. I love the beginning when Brenda tells Gabriel how he has to inform the family and when she says something you'll see how Gabriel handles it! And I love that Brenda's mom already figured out about her and Fritz dating but didn't say a thing. ♥

Also, my icon, ♥

HELLO, LOVELIEST.

And you yew are so welcome, sweets! Happy to spread the love around.

That part you mentioned in "Slippin'" is by far one of my favorite moments in the episode. I wish they did more editing like that in other episodes but that's definitely one of the only, if not the only, time I can remember that happening.

Also, YES, YOUR ICON. ♥!1 I haven't quite gotten to that fun stuff yet, but I've heard there are about a million and four cute Brenda/Fritz things coming up in seasons 3 and 4. Stoked!

Reply

boogieshoe_s August 24 2010, 12:14:36 UTC
I don't recall editing like that in other episodes either, it's too bad because it's awesome. ♥ Another funny thing I noticed in this episode is when Fritz wanted handcuffs to take the valet guy at the end of the episode to the police station he yelled "cuffs!" at Brenda and she just randomly gets them out of her huuugee handbag, lol. Just imagine what else she'll take with her to a dinner with her boyfriend and her mom. ♥

Ahhh yes there are lot of cute Brenda/Fritz moments in those seasons! ♥ Although I can't help but think that Brenda's always cute. ;)

I noticed that you have a lot of cute Brenda/Kyra/Kevin icons, so I'm thinking I need to go through your userpics to see where you got those from because I've only uploaded 55 of 115 userpics, and my userpics need some new Brenda/Kyra love. ♥

Her and that bottomless bag! (I'm still searching for a bag to take to school with me and I've seen a million big, black bags so far. None of them are really 'my style', though, so I'm going to have to keep looking.)

Go for it! I went on a mad search one night a few weeks ago and I think I cleaned out every Kyra/Closer icon maker on Livejournal.

Normally I'd think that it would be very useful to go shopping and know exactly what you want to have, but I know from experience that that's not true! When I know exactly what kind of bag I want to buy, I never find it. How annoying is that. But last year I got lucky, I knew exactly what bag I found it and in the very last store I found it. ♥ But now I want a Brenda bag so I'm gonna have to start searching all over again, hehe.

I found a lot of Brenda/The Closer icons last night, some of them are the same as some of yours, I hope you don't mind. I found one that said "sky box tickets" on it, and I didn't take it, but last night I saw that episode and now I kind of wish I had it as my userpick haha. I love her "WHERE ARE PROVENZA AND FLYNN?" and then she starts smashing the stapler onto Provenza's desk, haha. ♥ Have you seen the blooper of the "WHERE ARE PROVENZA AND FLYNN??" part? So funny. ♥ All the bloopers are funny. There is one where Kyra/Brenda is putting on a jacket and then she hits her head on the door frame :')

I forgot to say two things

1. I was listening to Gloriana on my iPod and I thought that you might enjoy the music too, I don't know if you already know them or already have the album but here's a download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?yzexmklmyyy

2. I got an e-mail from a store saying that they put a lot of stuff on sale now, but the image they used had a great bag on it. It's not the same as Brenda's but it gave me a Brendaish vibe so I went to their online store to see how much it costs. Guess what, they don't even sell the bag. :| Then why use that picture to promote the store?
