It's you, girl, and you should know it.

Wow. Contrary to popular belief (/what I'm about to post), I, as a matter of fact, have ventured out into the real world multiple times this week. An actual update is in the works, but this right here is my final spam of '09/FOR FOREVER AND A DAY. I promise. But I figured we should try to end '09 on the most JOYOUS NOTE EVER, which could clearly be done with none other than Mary Richards. And mostly I just needed an outlet for the ridiculous outpouring of love I hold for this show. Nbd.

In reality, there are probably a grand total of .2 people that will fully appreciate this. But suck it, f-list, it needed to be done. And it took surprisingly little effort on my part. So before we begin, I have only one question to ask of you: who can turn the world on with her smile?

you might just make it after all • tmtms
a picspam: the theme song → season 2

Bah bah bah, buuummmm! Do do do do do, do do do do do doooo...

Here we see Mary joyously driving her 'Stang, making her way home to her snazzy apartment (that I would much enjoy living in, just stating) at 119 North Weatherly, then stepping out of her powder-white baby in serious style.

And then she waves, like the Good Samaritan she is, to a random group of children who are sledding, gabs with her favorite gal pal, Rhoda, in a seriously adorable purple ensemble, and pets a total stranger's pair of puppy dogs. Love your life, Mary. Love your life.

Phyllis shows up and they giggle like the rockstars they are, Mary both furiously and fiercely darts across the street in a stylish fur parka, and we see several shots of Minneapolis and its (red-parka wearing?) denizens.

Then Mary just essentially BAMFs it up in and around her pretty, snow-covered city. And buys a baguette.

Soon, Lou, Murray, and Ted show up and the cutest set of hugs ever to be a cute set of hugs goes down in television screens across America. HEEEEE.

AND THEN MARY GOES AND THROWS HER HAT IN THE AIR BECAUSE HER LIFE RULEZ!1~. And rainbows and smiles and love and sunshine ensue all throughout the land as the happiest theme song in the history of television comes to a end.

→ Want to view the song in action? There's a pretty ick-quality vid here. But it suffices.
→ Perhaps you want the song itself. Download a cover by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts here!

Essentially, if you've never watched this show, or you haven't seen it in years, make it your new year's resolution to do so. Thanks, Hulu. And now if you'll please excuse me, I'm off to go crawl into an eljay-less hole until 2010 in the hopes of freeing up some much-needed space on your f-lists. Happy new year, y'all. (♥!)
