Why is Conor Oberst still so good?
Saw Bright Eyes last night at First Ave. This is the tenth time I've seen Conor in some incarnation (incl. solo stuff and Monsters of Folk). He was chatty and lovely and I wish I could have made it to his "secret DJ set" at 400 Bar afterward but let's be honest, $10 for cover is stupid and not worth it for an hour of music. Though probably could've met him then...oh well.

Lots of new songs. I haven't really listened to The People's Key so I missed out on that. But whatev. Some seriously old and underplayed songs got their moment last night! Fuckin' "Falling Out of Love at This Volume" and "Trees Get Wheeled Away"? Fuck, son, those songs are like 15 years old. That's crazy awesome. Also cheers for playing a few off Digital Ash, that album gets seriously overlooked because it was released alongside I'm Wide Awake It's Morning. But it is great, and it was really cool live. Sweet rhythms<3<3 Also died at "The Calendar Hung Itself" and "Lover I Don't Have to Love" (weird.) and fuckin' "Going for the Gold"!!! Died. Felt like my thirteen year old self...except drunk.
Also, Mike Mogis is a beast on pedal steel. Well, really, on everything. Mike Mogis fucking rules.
Anyway. It was way fun and I didn't even mind being there and getting drunk alone. I am so stupid hungover today though that I called in sick at work. Whatever.
