Long long fanaccount since this concert had 6 groups but you guys can just check out the ones you wanna read :)
This is probably one of the most tiring concerts I’ve been to. But it was well worth it to see your idols :)) I’ll skip over the opening acts and go straight to the concert. BTW, my ticket was just Bronze so I don’t really know who does some of the things in particular but I’ll try to recall as much as I can! I also have videos of the interview parts :D
Each artist performed up to 5 songs and usually after the first song, they do introductions and the emcee, Kring, Elenzano, interviews them for a bit. After a couple more songs, they have the longer interview just before their last performance. They also had fireworks during some of the songs.
Infinite was first up. They sang The Chaser, Paradise, 그해여름" (In the Summer), BTD, Be Mine, and Nothings Over.
During the Intro they were saying stuff like “Long time no see” and I’m like “what :))” They didn’t have a translator so I actually don’t know what they were saying. After that was Paradise and the music stopped!!! Everyone was so shocked. And then they repeated it. But then it stopped again. Good thing the guys handled it well. They also greeted us and stuff. During In The Summer, they were walking around the stages and interacting with the fans. These two members even made a heart together <3 (I’M SO SORRY COULDN’T TELL WHO IT WAS) There was even fan contact AAAH! Made me really jealous of the SVIP people :)) Before The Dawn was performed on the 2nd stage as well. Interview- There wasn’t much said but I think they let Infinite-H dance a bit. And all throughout Hoya and Dongwoo were singing parts of Special Girl :)) ”Special~ special~” The emcee also mentioned that she likes Be Mine and that was her segue to the next performance. Unfortunately for Be Mine, the music stopped again RIGHT AT THE DANCE BREAK. Ugh! So many technical difficulties! So they were all apologizing and stuff. They did some call and response kinda thing (say “yeahh” “YEAAAAH” say “ho ho” “HO HO!”). I think that was Hoya :)) then the emcee (from the backstage I guess?) was saying “encore encore!” so we chanted and then they sang Nothings Over! I wasn’t expecting this song but I’m glad they sang it :D They went around the stage for that song as well.
Tasty - You Know Me, SOLO
OMG THESE TWINS ARE SO CUTE. And not in the aegyo kind of way but they’re just so charming! And they speak English so it was a lot more interactive! It’s super funny cuz when we’re chanting “TASTY! TASTY! TASTY!” It sounds like we’re chanting for bread =)) I forgot to video the 1st interview cuz they were just so cute but I remember the emcee was commenting on how they were twins and all. They even told them there were some twins in the crowd. And the guys really looked for the twins and like waved or something :)) then when they pointed to them one pair they were like “You don’t look alike” HAHAHA!
MC part - They asked them to dance. At first they were like “You guys have music?” and the emcee said yes but the DJs didn’t play anything so they were like “We can do it without music” and they started dancing. They’re actually really good! They were also asked where they learned to dance and they said some guys from US. He mentioned a couple of names but I only remember Flii Stylz :)) Then Kring said “There’s a rumor that you guys make your own choreography” and Daeryong goes “First of all, that’s not a rumor” HAHAHA! I love these guys already! They were saying that they make all of their dances. Their fanclub, Tasty Philippines, also came out and gave them a bouquet of flowers. So the representative gives it to them and they hugged her asdfjkl. At this point the emcee said “How come its only her who gets a hug” and they hug her too and I’m like “NOOOO DON’T!!” Like you can hear all the fangirls protest lol. Then they introduced their next song. Daeryong said “It’s a really good song! So if you guys are feeling it just jam with us alright!”
U-KISS - Bingeul Bingeul, Stop Girl, Believe, Someday, Shiggeureo (Be Quiet), Man Man Ha Ni
I had so many feels for UKISS. I didn’t watch them when they visited the Philippines in the past, but I really like UKISS. They are really nice and hardworking and I think they really do their best to show their love to the fans. I mean I think the Philippines is really special for them <3 “Mabuhay! We are UKISS!” hu hu hu
Anyway, when Bingeul Bingeul played, I got so nostalgic suddenly. Like whoa. Then Stop Girl! AAAAAAH! I was screaming for Kevin the whole time =)) During the MC, we sang for Kiseop since it was his birthday last Jan 17. They even had a cake! How sweet! Then they had a group hug :)) They also talked about their previous visits here and mentioned that they might have a 2nd Kiss here! They were asked their favourite song and Kevin answered Man Man Ha Ni and that they might perform it later. Then before the next performance they were asked to tell the fans to wait in tagalong so THEY SAID MAHAL KO KAYO KITA KITS ALL TOGETHER <333 HAHAH well I think they said kita kits lol During the 2nd MC, they mentioned how AJ really wanted to come as well and that they were working on their next album :D
Tahiti - Hasta Luego, Tonight, ???/Gangnam Style, Wannabe (Spice Girls), Pretty Face
I didn’t know any of their songs except for the ones they played before the concert (they played a few MVs on the screen). But I still enjoyed their set. I soon found myself singing to Tonight (Report to the dance floor! Report to the dance floor!) hahaha! So yeah they also sang another Korean song then it became Gangnam Style…well actually Hyuna’s version which is Oppa ddak nae style (Oppa Is Just My Style). So I was dancing and singing along but Idk people in my section didn’t seem to be as engaged as I was :)) They also sang Wannabe! I was singing along the whole time and again the Bronze section wasn’t as into it as I was…they weren’t even singing! So when they were going around during some of the songs, they gave away a bunch of posters and waved to a lot of the fans.
MC part - They did introductions. They also explained their group name, that it was an island south of the Pacific Ocean and they wanted to present colourful performances. Then they talked about Hasta Luego and Tonight. It was a really short interview so that was pretty much it.
EXO- MAMA, What Is Love, Two Moons, Open Arms, Hawak Kamay, History
You can literally see all the fans freaking out in the foreground of my video. A lot of people were really looking forward to EXO so people were going cray over them. Gosh what do I say! It’s hard to follow all 12 of them especially when they’re walking around on stage so I can’t say much. They talked a lot in between songs, introducing each one. Chen was going to introduce Hawak Kamay, a Filipino song they prepared, but he was speaking Korean so none of us understood and he was just smiling there waiting for a response :))
D.O., Luhan, Chen, baekhyun sang Open Arms. I nearly cried during Baekhyun’s part, he sang so well omg
During Hawak Kamay they started on the main stage with Lay and Chanyeol on guitar and Kris on bongos. By the second verse they started walking around and they were holding a rose each and giving it to fans! And they also tossed some candy! But almost at the end, Suho just threw it towards the crowd lol. Sehun, Kai and Luhan were on the left side running together, it was so cute :) Chen can sure hold a note! He sang really well!
MC part - They did introductions. Just putting the English stuff they said :))
Tao spoke English. He said “Hello we’re EXO! It’s nice to be here! Nice to see you again! Thank you! I love you so much!
Baekhyun when next and he spoke Korean but then when the translator spoke he was speaking Tagalog! And it wasn’t professional! and it wasn’t even accurate!! I dunno where they got this dude but it sucks. So I’m not even gonna type in what he said cuz it could be wrong…plus EXO’s answers are probably generic :)) BUT BAEKHYUN SAID I LOVE YOU <3
Xiumin : “Are you ready?! MAKE SOME NOISEEEE!” that was it XD
Chen: HIII! I’m Chen from EXO! *Korean, probably thanks and stuff* I LOVE YOU PHILIPPINES!
Suho: I have no idea what he said, it was in Korean. He said I love you!
Kai: People freaking out! Korean again. :)) “Annyeonghaseyeo! Hello! I’m Kai”
Luhan: “Hello everybody! I’m Luhan from EXO! Are you happy?! Yeah I’m happy too :D I LOVE YOU GUYS” then he made the heart over his head too <333
Lay: “Hello everybody I’m Lay from EXO. I’m so happy to be here and I love you guys <3” He only introduced himself very quickly L probably still wasn’t feeling well. But he made a heart over his head awwww~
D.O.: HE WAS SO HAPPY OMG. He shouted “MAGANDANG GABI!” lol such a cutie he was even waving his hands!! “I’m DO from EXO! MAKE SOME NOISEEEE! PILIPINO MAGALING!!” with thumbs up adkfjaf [mahal na kita DO]
Sehun: “Hello I’m Sehun…” /awkward Um yeah it was in korean but in the end he shyly said “Mahal kita” AAAHHH~
Chanyeol: “WASSUP PHILIPPINES! *waves* I’m Chanyeol from EXO. Are you having fun? SAY HOOOO!” fans: HOOOOO~ “THANK YOU THANK YOU” omg Chanyeol can you be any cuter =)) “Thank you Philippines!”
Kris: ldquo; You guys having fun?! Thank you, thank you. Hi my name is Kris. This is actually our first time here in the Philippines. And it’s hot in here! *SCREAAAMS* I mean the weather not you guys. Just kidding, just kidding, YOU GUYS ARE HOT!” [Your jokes are so lame Kris =))] “Thank you so much for having us tonight and we’ve prepared a lot of special performances for all of you here. Yeah, so make sure you guys check it out”
I apologize for my fancam of this because this girl next to me decided to REACT TO EVERY MEMBER WHO TALKED I COULD HARDLY HEAR THEM. LASKFJAD WITH COMMENTARY. SHE SOUNDED LIKE SHE WAS DYING NEXT TO ME, GOOD LORD.
2nd MC - They greeted again (We are one!) then there was a little interview. The emcee was telling them that MAMA was really popular here in the Philippines. And she asked them if they wanted to see how much we love MAMA. I think there was supposed to be a flashmob but none of the fans danced I think and in the end Lay and Kris were the ones who danced (?) They just danced the intro of MAMA.
So the emcee asked them about singing Hawak Kamay, how they memorized it and if it was difficult. Baekhyun said that learning it was interesting and fun. He said that its their first time learning Tagalog and it’s a really charming language. They would like to learn it more next time they perform here. Then there was a part where the emcee was talking about their success here and that they “can surpass Super Junior”. She kinda stopped cuz fans were reacting then she said “I mean they can be as good or as popular as Super Junior, DBSK, BoA and all the other kpop artists”. Then she just tried to excite the crown with “don’t you think so?” and named other SM artists…then people started chanting “SMTOWN! SMTOWN!” and then EXO was like going with the beat :)) They thanked the fans for the support for SMTOWN or something like that.
Actually that emcee was just reading the prompter that’s why she was stopping midway her sentences. She has an explanation
here. It was really offensive what she said but anyway, I’ll leave my reaction at the end.
Girls Generation - Genie, The Boys, Hoot, Dancing Queen, Gee, I Got A Boy
The girls only performed on the 1st stage since they weren’t able to rehearse. But their performances were really great anyway. The crowed was super hyped!
Most epic part of the concert was during Genie: PHILIPPINES PUT IT BACK ON!!!
MC part - It was mostly Tiffany talking. She noticed the SONE’s flags which said “We thought you’d never come” and said they were really touched. They said it was their first time here except for Tiffany who said her brother was here and she also made a shout-out to her family who were watching.
They also mentioned how Jessica sang Someday originally by Nina and composed by Nyoy Volante. She said that she was aware that it was by a Filipino and even sang a part of it! She got really shy after though :)) I think she sang that song really well actually :)
Before they sand Dancing Queen, they were singing the “yeah yeah yeah” part acapella! Ahhhh~
So there was an MC before Gee and the emcee was saying how the fans learned the steps to I Got A Boy already and introduced it as the next song. Then Tiffany said “before that I wanna say…” and then the spotlight went off! There was dead air for a while but the camera was focused on Yoona and she had this confused look on her face O_O Turns out the emcee made a mistake with the song so Tiffany said they’ll perform Gee first before I Got A Boy. They changed mics, then when they came back out people were chanting “Let’s go soshi! Let’s go!” and they were clapping to it!
Some of their mics weren’t working well though. Sometimes I couldn’t hear the others sing.
Okay this concert was really great and I’m so glad I didn’t miss it even if I was in the back section but it also lacked a lot of organization.
There were a lot of technical difficulties. Sometimes the music stopped (as in the case for Infinite), or there was no spotlight on the artist while performing, and even their mics weren’t working at times. Also, the transition between artists was too long which kind of made me lose some of my excitement and adrenaline. Also during the MC parts, the lights are always on the audience and it’s really hard to see the artists and to fancam. I MEAN WHY TURN ON THE FLOODLIGHTS. WHY.
Let’s not forget that the interviews were kinda messy. I’m not putting all the blame on Ms. Kring, but I had hoped that since she had experience she would know if it was better if she used cue cards or the prompter or whatever. Particularly with the Super Junior comment on EXO, I don’t know if she had enough time to look over everything, but it’s really sad if someone like her who knows about kpop could not even give her opinion about things she was going to say, even if it was scripted. She should have been able to give her two cents on what to say or ask the artists. It’s just not right to ask a rookie group like EXO about surpassing their sunbae’s. I mean, that’s really awkward. Maybe they’d dream about being as popular or better but you never claim it yourself. They have respect for those other artists so they’d never say something like that.
The translators/interpreters also kind of disappointed me. I just know that the translator for Infinite was the same for EXO, but he only translated badly for EXO lol. I wish it was more consistent and they would speak up more because sometimes we couldn’t hear what they were saying.
Lastly, the venue itself caused problems. The stage was great, it was high enough to see but low enough that fans could still reach and it was really big too. But since it was an outdoor event, they had to create a scaffolding to put the soundbooth and lights. In the end those big metal bars and the staff at the soundbooth ended up blocking the view of the Gold, Silver and Bronze sections. I don’t know about people in front but I’m guessing you still can’t get a full view of the artists on the 2nd stage.
Still, I’m glad this still managed to pull though. I would never believe we could get 6 kpop groups for one concert. Who knows what could be next? Maybe Philippines can get more kpop music festivals now :D I just hope that they can learn from this and organize it better from airport, to hotel, to presscon and production of the concert itself.
