Manila, Philippines
January 1-2, 2012
As we all know, Siwon tweeted about
coming to Manila on the night of January 1. Me and my cousins immediately set out to find out what time his flight was and were determined to see him. Nobody knew what his agenda was but there were a lot of rumors spreading around.
By around 10:30 PM we were already at NAIA airport. His flight landed at around 11:00 PM. Siwon even tweeted about being at the
immigration. There were also reports of seeing other people with him. At one point, the fans ran towards the exit from arrivals thinking it was Siwon but it didn’t turn out to be them. There were also chants of “Choi Siwon” and “SS4”. In the end, they didn’t go through the arrivals section which left a lot of fans disappointed. We also weren’t sure if they had left already since there weren’t any confirmed reports of them leaving. We waited until around 2:00 AM since we still wanted to see them. Although my cousins and I knew that they had probably left already [around past 1 AM] we were still in denial and kept our hopes up. Some people even stayed until 4 AM.
By January 2, Siwon again
tweeted, this time with a view of the sunrise. My sister had researched on it and gave us a few clues on where he might be staying. Also by this time, we had confirmed that Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun were also in Manila.
I got home from Makati and then I heard the news that Siwon
tweeted at around 9:12 AM that he was in Orchard Road, Quezon City. Can you imagine that?! That he gave his exact location! There were also already reports of spotting Siwon, Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk there. I wasn’t supposed to go since my 2 cousins couldn’t go with me cuz they had work but after a lot of persuasion I decided to. I took a cab to Eastwood mall and they were shooting in an open area outside the mall.
Siwon, Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun were dressed as waiters. Their clothes were brown and had an apron and beret. They were dancing to a song and they were so cute! Siwon looked like he was in a good mood. Kyuhyun has red hair and was so adorable dancing. Eunhyuk looked really into the dance as well. I arrived at around 10:13 so they must’ve been filming for some time already. The area across the shooting area had a red tape barrier and there were only maybe around 30 or so fans.
They took a break after a while. They were seated somewhere near the entrance of the mall where there were tables and benches. One of the staff was even holding up Kyuhyun’s bangs while fanning him. It was quite hot during that time and they were wearing long sleeves.
When I was behind the line already, one of the PDs came up to our group and asked a girl if she could dance. They asked that girl to come with them and they positioned her to the right of Kyuhyun. She was right next to Kyuhyun! They did around 2 more takes of the dance with her until she came back. I even heard her say she was staring at Kyuhyun for a bit and he even bowed a little.
After shooting, fans followed them towards the shuttle buses. There was one for the staff and another one just for SJ. First out was Siwon, then Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun was last. A lot of people were crowding around them and the security was trying to make way. I ran up in front so that I could see them approach me but I wasn’t able to take any pictures since I was too caught up in the moment and freaking out and all. Although I wasn’t screaming, plus I didn’t want to get too close as well. They boarded the shuttle buses and us fans were on an elevated platform so that we were on the same level as the windows. The curtains were shut but Siwon placed his hand against the glass once. I was also able to peek inside and saw Kyuhyun taking a rest with his feet up and Eunhyuk on his iPhone. Maybe after 10 minutes they left the venue on the way to Macapagal.
12:00 NN
The next venue was on Macapagal across PNB and near Hobbies. It was near a Korean restaurant and was like a empty cemented lot. They set up a green screen and continued shooting the same dance. I was with my 2 cousins now since they skipped work haha. More fans arrived this afternoon, maybe about 150 or so. BTW, there were also other cast members of different nationalities who were also doing the dance. Sometimes behind the boys, or by themselves, or in groups. There was also a part when each member danced solo.
We were told that if we behaved properly and didn’t make noise or scream and didn’t take photos, they’d let the boys greet us up-close. The first few rows in front of me were already seated. Most of the time we sat or squatted as well. But a lot of the people behind us were still standing up. Everytime the boys would come out, there’d be screaming and some people were also pushing since some couldn’t see since the buses were in the way. By around 3:00 PM they were wrapping up and one of the staff told us they’d let us see SJ. The first row was supposed to make a human barricade and link arms. Initially, they were supposed to stand up but we agreed that we’ll remain seated. However when Siwon and Eunhyuk were approaching, we saw the first row stand up, then everybody started standing up and pushing forward. My cousin and I even fell to the ground and my cousin even got a cut!
There’s some accounts saying it started with a guy fan hugging Kyuhyun but I really didn’t see anything like that. However there were some people who weren’t ELFs and were just taking pictures at the side of the shooting area where they weren’t being controlled. I don’t know but since Kyuhyun came out last maybe it came from there because all the people in the first row of our area were girls. If anybody knows I’d like to know how it happened.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get our chance to see the boys up close. The boys went back to the bus and people were crowding around it. Siwon took pictures of the crowd and even
tweeted it. I’m not in the picture cuz my cousins and I were already on the way to get a cab to follow them to their next destination: Intramuros.
3:40 PM
My cousins and I took a cab to Intramuros [like many of the other ELFs] and when we saw some girls screaming and running , we decided to get off and follow them. We might have walked 2 more blocks before arriving at a street across San Agustin church. We saw the SJ bus parked and the whole street was getting crowded already. There was a lot of people! They wanted to shoot the scene down the street so they were telling us to move back behind the bus. The pathway from the entrance of the bus to the shooting area was lined by fans. They kept telling us to move back but people at the back wouldn’t. It was really really hot and there was a lot of pushing and really crowded. Everytime the curtain moved of something people were screaming and pushing. The staff even asked one of the fanclub members to make us move or else they won’t shoot anymore.
At first they moved the bus forward but the path wasn’t clear yet. After about 15 more minutes the bus decided to leave since I guess it wasn’t working out. Still, Kyuhyun took a picture with his iPhone from the bus and I think some of the boys also waved. People were still following the bus as it left.
The Intramuros part was probably the craziest part of the day. It was really...WILD! And I was sad at how some of the fans reacted. However I also understand their reaction. We rarely get to see Super Junior and we got all excited. I think this mishap is not only due to the way the fans acted but also on the management. They didn’t have any bouncers and they should have secured the venue more properly. They should have closed the street or done something to control the crowd. But anyway I’m just thankful that no one got seriously injured . Kyuhyun
also retweeted Siwon and added “I appreciate ur love from E.L.F. of the Philippines ^^” Later that night we went to their hotel and spotted the buses there again. There were also a few fans waiting outside. I only stayed until 9:00 PM. My cousins were able to see them leave at around 10:20 PM and they were waving goodbye. Eunhyuk was wearing a hood and mask, Kyuhyun had earphones on and Siwon was wearing a white shirt. They were able to follow them to the airport and there they were able to say their last goodbyes. Of course Siwon
tweeted again and even
replied to a fan about not feeling sorry about the accident earlier.
I’m really thankful I was able to see them. It’s a real blessing. I feel so touched because we hardly get addressed or mentioned in tweets or when they mention countries. Although in my perspective there were really hard times today, I think Super Junior learns to appreciate these things because of the effort we make to see them.
What a way to start the year! Does this mean I’ll be fangirling and stalking for 2012 or will I see Super Junior more often? Hahaha!
