This must be what they write about, Moony." "I think you're right, Pads."

I really liked the theme of this. Sadly, life is suffering, but that IS what makes it beautiful.
It was just SO nice to read something happy and loving and... well... hopeful. I rather like your comment above about possibly being post-DH. Are you thinking of them as dead or of an alternative timeline? Either works for me.
Either works for me, too, actually. I kind of wrote it thinking it was a slightly AU post-POA where Sirius had been out of Az for a few years because he got out early, or didn't die or something. This would kind of be their realization that they aren't young anymore and even though they lost good friends, it was all okay because they had each other. Then I kind of realized it worked as a post-DH thing, with the same kind of idea, just a tad more angst thrown in since I never really specified if they were dead or not or some other things, so I mentioned post-DH it just in case. So it's up to the reader to decide and interpret what they wish, really. If they like AU, it could be a little AU; if they like cannon, then it can follow the cannon time line, if they so desire.
AU, oh, yes. I could totally see this working if neither of them had died! Oddly, though, and it just may be my affinity for post-death literature in general (it seems to be becoming a lit genre), I find that I'm very drawn to the idea of them being dead. Hmmm...
I have to agree with you. I'm drawn to them being dead, too. I hate the fact that they're dead, but it seems to finalize things for me. They're dead, but they are together and my boys are happy, so I can be happy and move on. :D
“No one would cherish the happiness of the ending.” Remus added, after a pause. “Without conflict, it would be too obvious; too easy. The love and happiness at the end would be empty. The love would be blindly unconditional. Untried; untested against the threats of destruction.”
Really love your style. Might have mentioned that before, ~lol~ :)

I seem to like post-DH fics a lot these days. Don't know how many countless ones I've read in the past week. This was a rather good one.
