I got the job!
So... I definitely got the job as a freelance writer for the Saginaw News!
The features editor sent me a contract that I have to sign and return before he can officially give me stories, so I should be out interviewing for /writing my first story for them by this weekend. The slight downside to freelancing -- it's not guaranteed to be published. He'll decide whether or not he wants to run it in the paper after he gets a final story from me. But I'm happy enough just for the opportunity (although it would make me even happier to have everything I write get published-- I won't get my hopes up too much).
That's really all the news for now. I'll fill everyone in on how my first assignment went after it's over.
