A lab rat update:

I have been nudged by a little gyrbyl

AS some of you know October has not been a good month for me. On the night of the 10th, I had a lab rat moment, fell and snapped my humerus in two...right below my shoulder. I went to the ER had surgery the following day. I had an Acumed plate and screws installed. (x-rays will be posted soon for your viewing pleasure) Not fun. Flying from now on will not be fun. I think it would be rather entertaining to hang magnets from my arm.

Anyway, I was released from the hospital on Friday 14 and went back to NOLA with my Mom. Not happy about that. I hated that I couldn't do anything. My arm was not causing extreme pain by then, but I was profoundly depressed and exhausted all the time. Healing will do that.

I've been back in Pensacola just over a week and am doing well. I am way ahead of schedule on getting the use of my arm back. (Weird how my good arm has become my bad arm and my bad arm is well still my bad arm...) Could be because I have a freakishly high tolerance to pain. I can even tickle my ear and touch the side of my head. I can also touch my thumb to my forehead with only a bit of difficulty. Now lifting my arm out to the side is not good. I can probably lift it 30 degrees.

So I am on the mend...now if I could just learn to slow down, relax, stay calm (my anxiety level is quite high at times) and not do anything to damage myself for about 6 months I will be just fine.
