Survey sites, soccer, and stamina

I think I've decided I'm going to bag the html coding for the Internet portion of my study. Daniel hooked me up with some great starter code, but it has just turned out to be too much to amend it to suit my purposes. I really need to get the stuff up on the Internet soon and time's a wasting. I've decided instead to go with this Internet survey service called "surveymonkey.com." Karen recommended it to me a few weeks ago, before I had become very frustrated yet with coding html. It sounds silly, but it has turned out to be a pretty good service. It will even analyse and calculate the data for you after you've gotten all your responses back. It charts the data and even gives you the stats back in bar graph form. Good stuff. I'm thinking this will save me a whole lot of time and work in the long run. Who wants to spend all of their time sifting through data doing stats- that's not the point of research- it's discovery. All the same, I can imagine I'll probably have to do proper stats at some point anyway, but at least the way this site is set up, it gives me a bit of a "sneak preview" in the meantime before proper stats are done. It will make it much easier, in any case, to do the proper stats once the time comes.

Sunday we played soccer on the meadows. It's funny I'm still thinking about it. It really is a good time. I think everyone has fun every time we play. Karen and Maria were there again. They're starting to become real regulars. It's pretty fun to play with them. It's been so surprising how good they really are! Karen usually plays back and I know she's been responsible for saving countless goals. She doesn't seem to have much fear in playing with us boys. ;) Maria, of course, is even crazier. She usually leaves several guys hobbling away at the end of each game clutching their leg somewhere or whining about their angle that got twisted. It sounds like an exaggeration, but it really isn't! She's just so aggressive. And the irony is that she's never been injured once. Not even a scratch. How does that happen. But it's great. She can hold her own just as well as (and in many cases even better than) any guy out there. To be fair, she did sit down after the game on Sunday to get a massage from Kuhn- more like "karate chops"- on a leg that had been bothering her. The claim, however, was that it was from tension sitting at a desk for half the day typing her dissertation. I believed her, of course. ;)

One of the great things about playing soccer on a regular basis is that I've got so much more energy now. I remember the first game we played I couldn't even make it through to the end without gasping for air. Now I usually jog from my flat to the Meadows for a warm-up every Sunday before we even begin to play. I've also been able to work longer into the night, after getting off of work from the Internet Cafe, and notice that I have much more energy and stamina to burn off. I know I'm going to need that extra zip once it's down to the wire the last week in August- which is creeping up much, much, faster than most of us realise.
