House call (2/3)

May 09, 2008 00:50

So, as promised: Here’s the next part of “House call”!

Even though this was originally supposed to be a two-parter, many of you guys suggested some kind of Chase-Wilson confrontation, so I decided I’ll probably add a third chapter in the near future, dealing with just that. :)

But for now, I hope you enjoy the original conclusion to this. Have fun!

I'm very happy to hear it worked for you! I always find it very difficult to have characters from the show - and especially House - have "real" conversations with someone, without making them seem too OOC. And I very much agree with what you said about Wilson and his role in House's life... I'll try to post the next part soon. Thanks again for reading and leaving me some feedback! :)

Another excellent installment. I'm sorry that there's only going to be 3 parts because I really like how well you've kept their relationship in character while putting them in unfamiliar roles with regard to each other.

On a technical note, if you are going to cross-post to several communities, there is a way to just do the cuts at sick_house and house_chase and have them all come back to the same copy of the story. That way you keep all your comments in one place. As a very infrequent poster, I don't know the technical details, but one of our more experienced fic writers could tell you how if you are interested.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I think I might be writing more House/Chase in the future. This was sort of a test, but since it's actually fun to write, I think I might try some more soon... :)

YES! That's exactly what I've been trying to do, because I seem to remember I did this before. But the link never seemed to work! So, if any of you could explain to me again how to link a story to posts in several communities, I'd be really grateful...!

I can't. Like I said, I'm not a writer. The main reason I have an LJ account is so that my comments aren't anonymous. But I can find someone who can tell you how. A lot of frequent (and good writers are over at HHoW -- houseofwhining.com -- so I'll post the question.

All she has to do is post a link back to her own LJ. Basically post it first in her LJ, then post a short version of the intro (title, summary, rating) with the link back to the version in her LJ. You don't need any special coding, since you can just copy/paste the address for the post in her LJ (with an intro noting "chapter 3" or what have you).

If she wants, she can code it with: Title here

This is a wonderful story and very very much in character. House's openness (surprising to Chase, but not to me) in the first part I thought was perfectly in tune with his openness in the bowling scene. And Chase's conversational fumbles in this part were also perfectly in tune with the current canon; this is grownup!Chase, all confident and in charge and smokin' hot, but it wasn't that long ago he was still a duckling, so he's not going to be able to be 100% perfect all the time.

As Poeia said above, the only real problem with this story is that it's too short. We need much more fic like this. Chase being doctory toward House is one of my pet notions, and there's not nearly enough of it, but even more than that, you have the dynamics down pat, and we need more of that too. I'm looking forward to the last part, too -- and the next story after that!

I am a doofus. I only check FFN when someone's recs lead me there, and that's been months, so it never occurred to me to connect "lab38" with "labyrinth38" until I started looking around to see what else you'd written. If I'd realized you were the same author who'd done "Observe and Overcome", "The Best of Motives", and the CCK thing, I wouldn't have been in the least surprised by how well done "House Call" was. I can only hope that Chase keeps your interest long enough to earn another story or two!

:) :)

I should have just used the same alias for both forums, so there wouldn't be any confusion now...

And *thank you again* for your kind words. I don't usually write a lot, so I'm not very confident about the whole thing. I probably wouldn't still be posting stuff without encouraging comments like this one...

Thank you *so much* for your lovely comment! I'm very glad to hear it worked for you... And I actually really enjoy writing this pairing, so I think I might try some more in the future. :)

And the bowling scene you mentioned was actually what inspired me to write some House/Chase. I think it really showed well how much their relationship has changed from the former seasons...

Thanks again for taking the time to read and leave me some feedback! I'll try and post the third part soon...

Loved it. You've got these two down pat, though I'm still holding out hope for an impromptu third installment involving Wilson. :) Great work!

Hi my dear! :) I'm still in shock over the season finale, and I have a very hard time writing Wilson at the moment. - But I'm almost finished with the update and I'll try to post it in the next couple of days... - Just have a little more patience, my friend...! :)

Yeah, you are still living! That's very good. Yipiee! And I like the thought that there wasn't just hate in Wilson's eyes. I like to think there was grief and a bit resignation but also love for his friend. Yeah the season finale shocked.
Can't wait for the update. Thanks for the message. I guess if I could write I would have also problems to write Wilson right now.
