This post is long overdue. Every time I sit down to write about the fabulous operas that I attended last Friday, I am so tired that I end up posting a picture, or something equally lame. But I don't have to play for anything until tonight, so now I am going to write, and write, and write!
Dido and Aeneas was simply amazing. The singing and acting were superb, and as for the staging, Krystal is a genius. Everyone did such a great job!
lauragirl_84 looked and sang Dido beautifully, nay, she was Dido. She gave me the chills, and Mark and I were very naughty audience members and kept whispering to each other about how amazing Laura was throughout the whole opera. I couldn't take my eyes off of
rachelgiggles; she looked and sounded so creepy - your stage presence is astounding, Rachel! And
captain_lost was pretty arresting too, especially with her scary hair.
sunnybpony and
le_petite_rose sounded fantastic, especially on their little duets - your voices sound so good together!
djcool8166 gave a nice performance, per usual, and everyone did such a great job.
Meanwhile, Back at Cinderella's was such a nice contrast to Dido. It was really funny, and so unconventional.
janovia sounded lovely as always, and had countless moments of comedic brilliance - Mark and I were laughing even when she wasn't singing, since she was doing so many little things that totally stole the scene. Rian gave a fantastic performance as Harold the Herald, and between him and Jan, it is easy to see where Alana gets all her dramatic and comedic flair.
drewallis was HILARIOUS, as were Tiffany, Amy, and Jed, and Chad was hysterical - watching Chad made me so happy.
I know I have to be forgetting someone, but all in all, bravissimo! Both operas were wonderful, and worth every minute of the drive to Ellensburg. I am so proud of everyone, and was so happy to see all my beautiful friends. It was so clear how much work and effort went into both productions, and was definitely a huge triumph for Dr. Reich. Congratulations!
For those of you who weren't able to see the operas, you can get an idea of how phenominal everyone looked by clicking
