Worth an eye-roll at least

So, I find out today that next week my pleasantly quiet workplace will be neither pleasant nor quiet, as the mall is being invaded once again by the North By Northwest film crew.  I'm initially intriqued- who will it be this time?  Dare I hope for Benny and Joon II... or... errr... anything else with Johnny Depp in it?

No, my friends, here is what will be disturbing my peace:

Jack (Christian Slater) lives a relatively normal life as a schoolteacher.  Shortly after he proposes to his girlfriend, Samantha, the couple is attacked by a group of vicious thugs.  During the struggle, Samantha disappears, never to be found.

Jack soon meets with Samantha's attorney and discovers that he must wait a full year befor ehe can inherit any of her belongings.  He must also wait a year befor ehe can open Samantha's safe.

Devasted by her loss, Jack refrains from dating for quite some time... until he meets Nicole, the sexy new faculty member at his school.  They begin dating and soon fall in love.

The night of Samantha's disappearance begins to haunt Jack as the thugs from the attack, Roddy and Louis (Ving Rhames), show up and begin to question him.  They insis that Samanth had stolen sometheirs and now they want it back.  Jack soon discovers that Samantha was no ordinary girl-- she was an assassin and spy.

After a year has passed, Jack and Nicole go to Samantha's safe but Roddy and Louis are hot on their trail.  After a chase and struggle, Samantha appears-- she's been hiding for a year, waiting for Jack to open the safe.

Samantha warns Jack not to trust Nicole-- she is a government spy.  In turn Nicole tells Jack not to trust Samantha since she has the stolen jewels.

Thrown into a life of intrigue and danger, Jack is overwhelmed and confused.  He loves both women but... which one can he trust?

Wow.  Seriously?  We're going to be losing two good business days for a movie starring a creepy almost washed-up actor and some "vicious thugs?"  This plot is so tacky and trite (which lying sexpot will he trust??) that I can't even imagine it will hit theaters.

Bleghhhhg.
