i had a very long & involved dream last night but all i can remember of it is a fictional family sitting on a private beach in recliners, facing away from the tide that were crashing over them and consuming them, one by one, until the entire family was gone- disappearing behind the waves and i was left to wail, on my knees, pounding on the shore and crying into the wind, which took my moans and muffled them.

i'm sorry, there was nothing i could do.
