My Attempt to Write Outside My Genre
Be honest please I want to try to get better at this type of writing
The first of two poems that will be posted by tonight and that aren't too horribly morose. Also as per tradition my title will rhyme but nothing else will.
A Touch, a Sigh, and a Vision in Minds Eye
Written upon remembering The Reclining Venus by Giorgione (Also, A Study in Heavenly Bodies :-) like a Rocky and Bulwinkle Cartoon it needs to have many titles)
http://www.angelfire.com/art2/roberto/images/Giorgione_Venus.jpg That one bare arm -
Serpentine, as if to say come taste the fruit
Flows down your body like thick cream
A body which would tempt the mind of any man
If his eyes could linger on it for an instant without tearing
Legs, strong and graceful
Smooth as the light of stars
Draw gaze to hips that sing divine perfection
The half-moons of your breasts
Complete a form that makes the heart beat quicken, ever faster
And yet, without this awe-inspiring shape
Without this outline of a god
You would still be beautiful to me
For though your body makes mine cry with yearning
It is your face that captures soul and heart
With an expression that could melt cold reality
A sigh escapes from parted lips....
A hand reaches out to touch cheek....
All the evil in the world would melt
If I could but brush that cheek!
Closed eyes let minds run free with wonder
The seconds I spend with you rule me for hours....
Hours spent praying on my knees
That someone on this plain exists
Who will show me, not your body
But your face
