The weekend has been exceedingly pleasant. Yesterday, Ginny and I spent the entire day shopping. Our first stop was a card and gift shop since the Yule season is almost upon us. Unfortunately, the selection of cards these days is really quite atrocious, either filled with long, rambling passages or being far too specific about the receiver of the card (a wife, a husband, a mother, a daughter, etc.) Still, we did manage to find something suitable for both our needs in the end. Ginny also wanted to look for a gift for Evan so we decided to peek into the Quidditch store, though I shan't say what she did get in the end as that would spoil the surprise. However, I do think Ginny has quite a knack for picking out presents if I do say so myself, and of course, I told her so upon leaving the store.
By then it was already lunch time, so we stopped by a quaint little restaurant where we indulged in simple pleasures such as sandwiches, soup, and hot cocoa. After which I convinced Ginny to undergo a makeover with me at Ceridwen's. (I thought I ought to take advantage of this opportunity as I can never seem to persuade Millicent to go with me). Ginny looked ever so glamourous with just a touch of rouge on her cheeks and generous amounts of silver glitter, that it only made sense to next visit one of my favourite local shops,
Vasilisa's Boutique, where we tried on a
few items. The whole affair was quite exhausting once it was over, but ever so satisfying. Still, we both practically collapsed on the floor upon re-entering Hogwarts.
As for this morning, I was pleased to find that there was a letter waiting for me from my father. Well, really it was from his secretary but the message that lay within it was from my father. He told me that he would be coming home on the eve of the 24th so I will be able to see him over the hols. In addition, he has said he's purchased the two of us tickets to the opera Malocchio! I rarely ever get to see father since I spent such a large part of the year here at school, and December is usually such a busy month for him that he cannot always come home then. Therefore, I am thrilled at this news.
In my excitement, I decided to bake a three layer chocolate cake with dark chocolate frosting and prepare a pot of tea. Of course, I didn't want to eat it all by myself so I made sure to share it with Millicent and Draco.
