This is the beginning! And I found a theme that might actually work with all the evidence i have!!!! Woot!
Conflict, both external and internal, is a prominent method used in many novels to convey theme. Internal conflicts let the author convince the reader what is right or wrong by having the character mirror the thought processes of the audience; the character will start out thinking what the reader thinks, but will slowly and gradually progress towards the author’s viewpoints. External conflicts use actions, and their consequences, to persuade the audience of the merits of the writer’s perspectives. In Ernest Hemingway’s novel A Farewell to Arms, the main character struggles internally between his love for Catherine and his obligation to serve in the war; externally, he struggles to survive the intense battles and, eventually, find his way back to Catherine. These struggles effectively illuminate one of Hemingway’s principle themes: acts of war are founded upon attitudes and behaviors contrary to those of love, and a man in love will therefore be unable to participate in combat.
and now.... back to work XD
