Shadow inspired this a long time ago.
Billy was breathing deeply. There was nothing even remotely frightening about this old house. No, not at all.
Everything was dusty and dark, being the end of the day and all, and Billy really wished he could find Dom in the maze of rooms. Billy had hated the house since he had visited for the first time. When Dom had found out about the baby, he'd bought a house right away, without consulting Billy at all. “No more flats for us if we’re going to have a proper family,” Dom had said.
"Dommie," Billy shouted into the darkness. Leave it to Dom to add stress to his already gone haywire emotions, and what was that shadow in the corner of the room?
The baby gave a good kick and Billy let out an "oof" of pain and surprise. He continued on, clutching his stomach tightly.
"Dom," he said weakly. He really needed to sit down. Oh, there was a couch. He dropped down without grace and tucked his feet under his bottom.
Billy sat rocking himself back and forth wondering about the sounds in the old house. There was a clicking by the door and something that sounded strangely like footsteps coming from behind the sofa.
Billy turned around just in time to see Dom's face looming from the darkness. He gave a little shriek and toppled off the couch. Dom just rolled over the back of the sofa and laughed.
"Dom, don't you laugh now, you almost gave me a panic attack."
Dom picked Billy up and plopped him back down on the sofa, “I’m sorry my Bills, how about I make up for it with a nice hotel room? I don’t think this old house's ready for you yet.”
Billy holed himself within Dom’s arms, “That’s just fine.”
