[ Those who have expressed interest will have, in the past few days, noticed large purple butterflies around the city. Eventually, one of those butterflies will have landed on them, and the voice of either Rebecca Crane, Kuchiki Rukia, or Emily Madsen will have spoken in their head, giving them a time and directions to the resistance meeting. When the time comes, those who follow the directions will find themselves outside of Rebecca’s Place of Solace, a large warehouse. For once, the security is (somewhat) disabled, the large door open to let the larger residents and those who came in groups come in. Tucked out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s easy not to be seen by others, though Rebecca does have a smile on her face and an explanation that she’s having a party for some friends if anyone asks.
The meeting itself will be taking place on the bottom floor of the warehouse, and once everyone has arrived, the door is shut and the security is put back up. There’s a large Newfoundland and about five piglets on the metal staircase leading to the upper part of the warehouse, and no one will be going up there without Rebecca’s permission; best to keep everyone down here, where they can hear. With everything shut, Rebecca climbs up onto one of the large stacks of metal crates inside and whistles loudly enough to pierce through the conversation before asking everyone to turn their PORTALs off and, if possible, take the battery out. Once that is done, she speaks again. ]
Hi everyone. For those who don’t know, my name is Rebecca Crane. Since Tony Stark, the founder and previous leader of this group, left Promenade, I’ve taken us -- The Resistance -- under my wing and have been doing some reorganizing. Now, this should really go without saying, but I won’t tolerate anyone going to the royalty or Genero and saying we’re planning something. If you’re going to do that, get out right now or I will make you get out.
[ There’s a pause here, a few moments for anyone to leave and for Rebecca to look at everyone. ] Okay then.
First thing’s first. The old teams? Gone. In their place are three new ones, which are called Earth, Wind, and Fire. [ Yes, just like the band. ] In addition to keeping track of the data, I will be heading Fire. I’m just one woman, though, and so two of our long-time members are going to help me out. Emily Madsen is heading Earth [ there’s a gesture toward scorchingheaven, who is up on a create nearby ], while Kuchiki Rukia is heading Wind [ and another gesture here toward snowwhitesoul, who is up on several crates due to being fairly short. ] So. Excited to learn what team you’re on? [ Rebecca then reads the listing off. ] If you’re new or your name wasn’t called, come and see me and you’ll be placed.
To go with these teams is a bit of a changed objective. We want to get out, but to do that, we need information. We’d like for the death toll the next time monsters run wild to be nonexistant. We’d also probably all like to keep our memories. On your own, I want you guys to start keeping track of things; write in a journal, whatever. Write down things you notice about the city, sure, but specifically, write about yourself. Look it over, keep yourself fresh in your mind. If someone is offering memory charms for free, grab one.
Second of all, those creatures. Some of us have experience with them, some of us don’t. Madsen and Ichigo run something called Fight Club, and if you want practice sparring, that’s a good place to go. However, not everyone can fight or defend themselves. Self-defense lessons, weapons training, and so on need to start. If you’d be interested in teaching or if you’d like to learn, please talk to Madsen. In addition, I know of a few people who can heal using magic, but the truth is, we’re pretty low on doctors. Along with those self-defense lessons, we’re going to be having first aid lessons. I’ve also been lucky enough to learn some magic that is fairly easy to use, and can teach basic healing spells. If you’re a healer and can help, come and see me.
Thirdly, those of you who were here about two months ago might remember that the dreaming up system we know and love collapsed. Everything people tried to dream came out wrong; food was inedible, weapons broke, and so on. We’re going to be looking at creating safe houses, fortifying buildings and places of solace, and stocking them with supplies in case something like that happens again. That’s something we can all be involved in. If you’ve got a place of solace or something similar that you think would make a good safe house, let me know.
Number four -- the PORTAL. You’ve all noticed that I asked that you turn yours off, and for good reason. These things have a nasty habit of turning on at inopportune moments, and in addition, Genero can see through any locks we place on them. I know we’ve got some technical geeks who can help, but the PORTAL system isn’t just technology; it’s also magic. If you have communications experience, especially magical communications experience, please talk to me so we can see what we can do. In addition, if you know some way we can communicate to coordinate these meetings that isn’t the PORTALs and isn’t face-to-face, let me know.
Last but not least are the missions. If you want to do something, I invite you to take the initiative to do it. In addition, while I encourage independence, remember that we are a group. We are one unit. There are going to be times when we have something we think should be done, and we’ll ask for volunteers.
There are going to be consequences when we go digging. But together, we can do enough to keep each other safe and to eventually find a way home. I believe that.
