Any rebellion against her rule was grounds for punishment, and Mother Morrison did nothing by halves. Eden had learned early, had watched her older siblings and her twin brother as they were each shaped by the torture accordingly. There was a dark twist between love and pain in their family, something warped in the meaning of their loyalty, their obedience.
