[Ned's banner isn't very specific, it just saying 'Pies'. He's always fairly nervous around these competition things, even though the 'food off' between Kelly and him isn't exactly professional. Despite the rather plain banner, the pies and table cloth, which is checkered in red and white, make up for it. The pies range from the plain Apple to the unique Spring Passionfruit, along with many, many others.]

[Ned perks up at his name, recognizing Desmond as a customer, but not recalling ever asking his name. With a smile, he greets him;]

Yes, I'm Ned. Sorry, um -- who are you?

[Seafood and steak, the banner strung along the counter proclaims, and the accuracy of that is clear as you glance over the range available. Large dishes of grilled shrimp, buttery crab claws and roasted salmon take centre stage, while steaks are cooked to order on the large grills behind the counter, and sides of fries or salad are added to your plate on request. There are pots of bouillabaisse or clam chowder to be served with fresh crunchy bread, if something softer takes your fancy, and even though he's busy talking to as many people as possible, Kelly's more than happy to cook up a burger or two, if you'd prefer to keep things simple.]

[Hello. It's really a terrible pity you're on the savory side of things... he's going to obligated not to vote for you (don't kid yourself, he couldn't give less of a fuck, he was never going to fill out one of those ballots.) But he will wander over to see if you're really as good of a cook as you claim to be.]

[He's trying to greet each customer with a smile, but as he turns to Zinc, it fades a little, gets tighter at the edges. But he can't turn anyone away, that's not in the rules of the game, and he doesn't really have grounds to, either. It's just an uncomfortable situation that he didn't want to get into. But he's an adult - which means he's got plenty of experience in feigning ignorance.]

See anything you'd like to try?

[His head tilts, very slightly. He's wondering if Kelly really just said that. There's something mocking in his eyes, because there are a number of incredibly crass ways he could respond to that and Kelly would have walked into every single one of them.

He settles for,]

No.

[Just staring.]

Oops, I thought it would make more sense to move this. aseparateworld October 11 2011, 00:39:28 UTC
[Following his disagreement with Kelly, N is very deliberately avoiding the Land's End's counter, though he does turn to study it every now and then.

Joltik is in his hair as usual, but there are new additions: a number of Solosis and a single Duosion. (Sort of like in the icon, which inspired me.) Anyone capable of telepathy will find N's thoughts all but completely veiled by the clamor of telepathic chatter surrounding him. This is, in fact, a deliberate act of protection. N's loyal, self-appointed bodyguard Zoroark is not visible, but as he can hide himself with illusions, that's hardly a surprise. He might be anywhere.

N, meanwhile, is trying to feed all his Solosis and the Duosion berry pie as they float and whirl around his head.]

[Ned is a little taken aback at the strange creatures that surround N, especially since he had never even seen the boy before. His mouth gapes open and his eyebrows knit together as he stares at the Pokemon.]

Just -- um,

Just.

What are those?

Hello. [He turns toward Ned with a ready smile.]

Oh, these are Solosis. [He indicates the smaller psychic jelly creatures.] This is Duosion. [He points toward the larger jelly creature.] And Joltik. [Finally, he indicates the spider.]

They're my friends. My name is N.

Oh.

Um.

[He continues to stare, before actually looking at N.]

I'm Ned. I make the pies. You, and your um, friends, you can have as much as you want to.

[Giles had partly come for the food, partly to get a closer look at two men he'd only spoken with in passing. Partly to get out and about and out in the daylight again.

He'll sample what both booths have to offer, and then take a seat somewhere he hopes is out of the way to people watch. Of course, whether he's actually out of the way might be another matter. Feel free to trip over him. Or just talk.]
