[Sephiroth feels restless, and also aimless. There are few things to occupy his time here so far, at least in a way he finds intriguing.

He investigates to satisfy his curiosity, but without any greater purpose in mind. He does want to return home, but what does he have to return to now? He doesn't know. From what he understands, there's no need for haste.

He travels down the streets, at times as quickly and soundlessly as a SOLDIER can, and times at a usual speed, blending in with the other pedestrians as well as he's able, considering the fact that he is usually a man apart, no matter where he goes. He doesn't quarrel with those who say he's lived here all his life. Why should he? It's a waste of his time and energy.]

[He's a perceptive creature, has an eye for small things, for details, and though the soldier moves with agility, the efficiency in his step draws Zinc's attention, and curiosity.

It is not unusual at all for Zinc to take to following random strangers on the streets, certainly not ones who cut as striking of a figure as Sephiroth does.

The question on his mind is a simple one, he is merely curious to see where that powerful stride is carrying him.]

[Sephiroth's own perceptions have been enhanced, and Shinra's finest isn't easy to shadow without his knowledge. Zinc might manage it for some time, but not indefinitely.

He doesn't mind being followed. On the contrary, it's interesting. He could elude said pursuit in a moment once he notices it (it helps when you can teleport), but he doesn't bother.

Sephiroth has no definite goal in mind, but he has a way of striding with purpose. Perhaps he'll pass by his Place of Solace again, although according to what he's read, he won't be able to enter yet. He wants to see it, regardless, even though the sight doesn't thrill him. The 70-story skyscraper with its distinctive red diamond logo looms in the distance.]

[Zinc had noticed this building, a new blot on skyline where there had not been one before. He has been curious as to just what it is, but had not found himself motivated to break into it and poke around.

A curious destination, and although he had been trailing a large distance behind Sephiroth, he walks up to join the man in front of the building.]

Is this yours?

[Sephiroth addresses him casually, as if they're already acquainted and Zinc following him was a matter of mutual understanding.]

I appear to have been saddled with it, yes.

[With his hands resting harmlessly in his pockets, he quirks an eyebrow.]

Place of solace is a misnomer, then?

Place of Inconvenience, I would say. Or even Place of Irritation.

[As usual, Sephiroth is more wry than forthcoming, but he doesn't take the things that happen in Promenade entirely seriously, not to the extent that he would back home. It's a dream world, after all.]

[Zinc can handle that. He would be interested in the information, but overall the man's manner is holding him enraptured enough.]

I'm sure the upkeep is tedious on your own.

I imagine so. Not my usual duties. [Though the thought of himself as janitorial staff or maintenance is amusing enough.]

Hopefully the maintenance will be as worry-free as the construction. [He expects it will be, in a dream city.]

And how would you describe your usual duties?

[His head tilts slightly, is very fastidiously taking in everything that Sephiroth says and does. He already suspects some sort of military influence, just from his stance and his walk, but he would gladly accept more data.]

[Zinc, his job is slaughtering everything.]

I am a general. I lead my men. [He does many more things than that, but that is the heart of it, for him.]

Your men are not here.

[A statement of the obvious, certainly, but there is a subtle edge of mockery to the statement.]

[Sephiroth catches the hint of mockery, but he doesn't care and ignores it.] Yes. I have no duties here and no rank, but you did inquire about what was usual.

[Here he is completely independent, and he is enjoying it. Glancing at the building, he feels a flicker of anger--strange and piercingly cold--not because of Zinc, but at the thought of Shinra.]

You're very quick to give up your honors.

[Which is curious. Mr. Alien, you are very strange.]

How have I given them up? They still exist at home, but they have no meaning here, so why would I cling to them?

[His pride doesn't rely on any honor he's been given. He knows his own worth.]

You could force their meaning onto anything you like.

[That's the point of a military, Sephiroth.]
