Day 3 notglitching September 23 2011, 03:08:42 UTC
[This creature is. A problem.

Long. Sinuous. It had fallen from a twisting limb, dropped on the enforcer as he passed below a tree. And started growing. He'd severed several portions while it was small, but the thing was hard to strike while it coiled around his outer code-and now that it's large enough, separate enough to be easily targeted, it's armored. Massive.

Fortunately for the program, size also makes its grip more avoidable-and for the most part, he's now clinging to its side as the creature shifts to entrap him. Rinzler stabs out, stabs up, trying to drag himself towards the thing's head as it twists, coiling and flipping with disorienting speed. It slithers over a rooftop, drops down to the streets below with a cracking impact before turning on itself, trying to crush the program between its lengths.

Rinzler's experience of events is entirely less precise-motion, fall, impact, squeezing pressure as he moves to evade. And something else. There was a flash of redness, bright familiar energy, not far, but directed ( ... )

[Alex isn't really paying attention two who friend or foe is right now; there are just people and there are monsters.

Running towards Rinzler grappling with the creature, he lets off a short blast, taking the head (or what he thinks is the head) off the creature, trying to give the Program some time to get away.]

[Taking the head off definitely solves some of Rinzler's problems. The flash of vivid red shoots past overhead, and the dark helmet snaps around, lights pulsing unsteadily blue-white before mostly returning to dim orange.

Ah. The maybe-program. Rinzler disentangles from the corpse, jumps off as it slams down on the ground, small fissures spreading in the pavement underneath. The program tilts his head in assessment of the unexpectedly helpful arrival, scans the streets peripherally for more threats.]

Watch for the cracks. Shit will grab you if you're not careful.

[There is already a tear in Alex's pants where one grabbed him.]

We have to work together, do you understand?

[Truce for now.]

[Alex gets a short nod. Rinzler's well familiar with the threats from below.

The second statement receives a slight angle of the mask. Rinzler has little problem with this, but it takes him mildly by surprise-the other had seemed... impressively aggressive before. What Rinzler really wants is simple confirmation on what the other is-but now's hardly the time for discussion. Unfortunate. Red circuits or no, he doubts this one will be so evenly disposed after the immediate threat is gone.

For the moment, though, the program nods again. Fighting is what matters. (for what?) And those energy attacks are overwhelmingly effective here, particularly given the size of the average opponent.

There's a buzzing noise beginning to rise around the nearest corner. Rinzler pauses, helmet jerking toward the sound, before jumping atop an immobile vehicle for a better vantage.]

[Well at least he got a nod. It's something. Letting out a breath he lets his eyes train on the sky--it has to be locusts. At least Rinzler's discs could be used from a distance, as could his power.]

Don't let them surround you. They swarm!

[At least he's learning information as he goes along about these shits.]

[Being surrounded wasn't such a problem for Rinzler-with both disks in hand, he could target multiple opponents with relative ease. Still, maneuverability was always the preferred option.

He launches his first weapon as dark shells appear over the roof's edge. It flies quick and bright, slicing through the jointed segment between head and body, mostly decapitating the creature. It jerks sideways, limbs twisting and jaws slicing at the air for a good while before finally falling back to twitch and still. The program glares behind his mask. These things are too large-far bigger than any gridbug has a right to be. Attacks that should derezz on contact tend to injure or cripple instead-even at best, they don't end quicklyRinzler casts out his second disk and jumps off his perch, stepping off the nearby wall as he reaches to catch the first returning weapon. As soon as it's in his grip, he leaps forward, stabs out-disk impaling, then bisecting one of the smaller creatures. He moves towards the edge of the swarm, targeting the creatures ( ... )

[Alex isn't even sure if this is going to work. But hey, if it fails and he dies--it will serve him right for trying something new. While Rinzler is attacking the animals on the outer edges, Alex starts to move towards the center slowly, trying to pull in as many creatures as possible.

Right when he feels that they are about to attack full force, Alex lets out a cry and lets his powers rip out from his chest, creating a circular blast that radiates from him in all directions.]

[ Rinzler's mid-jump when the other's motion registers in his periphery. He completes the motion, lands just forwards of a pair of buzzing wings, and stabs down, rips sideways to bring his dying quarry to the ground. There's a moment of pause, uncertainty as the program stares towards the other.

He's definitely moving into the swarm.

There's little time to consider it-Rinzler ducks a pair of scything jaws, slices up with both weapons, flips sideways towards a new threat, new target. But a twitch of unease flickers through his processing in near-perfect sync with the blue-white shifting across his circuitry. It's... that's... (wrong). There's no point in losing an ally, however short-term.

He's closed half the distance before it becomes clear he won't have to.

The red energy rips out from the program(?), cutting through the enemies around. Rinzler just has time to leap up out of the circular blast-and even then, the force slices into a gridbug flying between him and the attack. It's beautifully effective, and when he lands, ( ... )
