Who: Katakura Kojuro and Hino Rei/Sailor Mars When: Sept 1, day, before he learns his lord is missing Where: the beach What: Two warriors meet on the beach Warning: excessive staring
Sailor Mars hadn't hesitated to make her way to the beach. She wasn't sure what to expect with this samurai, she had wanted to wait to see him in person to see if he was one of the enemy or not. She was ready for anything as she approached.
As soon as she was a few feet away from him, Mars stopped, her stance stiff, ready to summon her bow if needed. She didn't sense any evil around him but that didn't mean he wasn't dangerous. "You must be the samurai then," she greeted him, her tone even but not cold.
Kojuro turned and looked the unusual warrior over. No armor to speak of, no visible weapons. Her outfit didn't speak warrior at all, but then again, in his world, not everyone looked like the 'typical samurai'.
"Katakura Kojuro," he offered with a nod, "the Dragon's Right Eye. You must be Mars." It was an interesting name she had, foreign, probably English. His lord spoke a little English, and Kojuro, as the loyal retainer he was, probably spoke it too, though he never used it.
"I am," she nodded in return, crossing her arms. Her dark eyes never left his, watching his every move. "How long have you been in this place?" she asked, curious. If they were going to assist each other, she wanted to know more about him. She wasn't ready to trust him with her identity either, not just yet.
He'd been watching her too. Kojuro was a strategist; he wanted to see what he could learn about her from her movements, try to judge her weapons before she drew them. He wasn't about to be caught off guard and unarmed. But he hadn't seen any threatening movements yet, so he simply stood in the sand, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.
"Several months I've been trapped here," he replied, not offering any extra information. She seemed to be studying him in return. Perhaps she was a strategist as well.
She had doubts that he most likely knew how to use that sword his hand rested on but she made no move to summon her fire. "If you're not one of the enemy, then we will accomplish more by working together if we both want to find a way out," she said bluntly though her expression made it clear she still didn't trust him as far as she could throw him and that wasn't changing just yet.
Now she was speaking his language. Unfortunately working together required a trust he simply wasn't getting from her. His expression remained flat; he didn't move from his spot.
"There isn't one," he stated flatly. It was unfortunately true. No way in, no way out. If someone knew of a path, they weren't talking.
"If we came in one way, there has to be a way out as well," she said simply, as if she could change reality by her insistence. She refused to believe she was stuck here, it was something that she just couldn't accept, especially leaving her friends in the hands of the enemy like that.
"Logically yes," Kojuro agreed. He was a very logical person, probably due to being a strategist. Things worked a certain way back at home, yet here was another story. "You'll soon learn that logic doesn't necessarily apply here. It is a twisted land of dreams and nightmares you can't leave, though the locals will claim this is reality and the other is the dream."
She frowned, she had just come from a place like that and it didn't make her feel anymore reassured. At least he seemed to understand her view.
"I don't like places that don't follow logic. I know full well it's a dream, nothing can convince me otherwise," Mars said stubbornly. "We'll just have to break the dream," but she knew that without the other senshi or the Princess, that was going to be really hard.
"Neither do I," Kojuro agreed. This lack of logic screwed with his ability to judge proper reactions. If the battle at Sekigahara had happened here, who knew who would have won.
Anyway, "I am not here to convince you otherwise. I won't believe it either. Unfortunately, our only link to reality, as we know it, is a mirror." Kojuro had kept his. It wasn't in visible sight in the manor, but it was tucked away, safely, there.
"A mirror? What kind of mirror?" She remembered someone before mentioning a mirror over her communications device. "What does it do?" she was hopeful for any link of home, one that she could see how her friends were doing. If she couldn't be there...but she wasn't sure if she could bear to watch them be defeated by the enemy.
"A wall mirror," Kojuro replied. "It was in the room where you first arrived. It gives you a view of what you do in the 'dream world,' or as we know it, reality." Kojuro had looked a few times, just to make sure the Date were doing well. Other than that? He hadn't looked.
"Isn't it hard to look at what you're missing?" she asked. She thought back to the room she had woken up in, she hadn't stayed to look around though, especially not wanting to mess with any mirrors after what she had come from.
He didn't feel it was particularly her business in that matter, especially since he didn't trust her and she didn't trust him either. Nor did Kojuro particularly care what she thought of the mirrors. However, another ally might be useful. The wellbeing of the Date was a severely important subject for Kojuro; anyone who knew him probably could verify that. He went yakuza on anyone who dared to bring harm to his lord.
"It seems cruel of the enemy to taunt us in such a way," she frowned thoughtfully. She didn't press to see what he saw in the mirror, his life was his business just as she would not reveal what she would have seen in her mirror. Though she still didn't exactly feel at ease, she seemed to have relaxed just a little. She

"It can be," he admitted.
