Given he didn't want the situation to turn into an argument, he kept the remark to himself about how she did the exact same thing. The only difference was, he could read her mind and know what she was bottling up. She couldn't read his. Some days he wished people could, then others he was glad they couldn't.

He stopped outside his room, given he was fairly sure if he left her in another room and went back to his, she'd never leave the room unless she was positive she wouldn't break herself or something else. He motioned for her to open the door, given he really couldn't lean forward with her in his lap.

"No, I haven't." Charles said. He hadn't even directly told Tony. He just figured it out. "I figured no one would bother to care to know. Professor X is apparently supposed to be in a wheelchair... and bald. Unfortunately, I have no intentions of being bald. You will have to settle for just the wheelchair."

Once she had opened the door, he rolled into the room. "I certainly hope you don't want to know just because I 'shouldn't bottle things up.'"

She would be on the side that wished she could read his mind, because it probably would have made things a lot easier. She couldn't, however, and was planning on just leaving it alone now that it was obvious he didn't want to answer. She knew when to stop bothering people at least.

Leaning forward, she pushed the door open as gently as she could considering her condition, and then leaned back so he could continue carting them around.

"Look, I know I was all excited about you being Professor X and everything, but...you're not what I was expecting--" crap, wait, that's not what she meant, "In a good way. You're different, and uh...I probably shouldn't have just assumed things," because he definitely wasn't the Professor X she knew from the comics she read as a kid, "So maybe you shouldn't settle for the wheelchair. Do something nobody expects."

She frowned at that, "I'm only human, Charles. I'm just curious. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to though."

Thankfully, he knew Noah well enough to know what she meant. When he introduced himself, she expected a different sort of man--a younger version of the man she had in her head. He didn't feel as if he failed to live up to those expectations. It was more that he failed to see how he could be the person that they all knew. Perhaps it was because it had only been ten weeks since his injury, just over two months, and he still was wrestling with everything. Perhaps if the events beyond the injury hadn't played on so many of his emotional weaknesses, he would have moved past it by now. Except he hadn't.

He glanced down then back up at her, again motioning to her, but this time instructing her to move to the bed. Well, now they had slept in each others bed. If the situation had been different, he probably would have found that endearing. He waited until she had settled herself before turning the wheelchair to face her.

"There are several others who know of Professor X, Noah, it's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault beyond my own." Charles said. Once he could see himself getting better, perhaps he could see how he was supposed to be the man everyone thought he was. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, rubbing his hands together as he tried to think how to put it into words. Noah didn't have something like Tony did for him to relate it to.

"Nobody expects anything of me." He said. They just assumed, which was fine. He'd rather they assume than actually know him and what he kept hidden under everything. "It's far from settling. It's..."

How the hell was he supposed to admit he was terrified of being able to walk, then one day waking up and it being gone again? Or how he would rather be miserable then have to face that revelation again? He wasn't sure.

"Tell me..." Charles trailed off, wrestling with the idea of using Tony as an example. True, Noah knew Tony better than anyone else in the city, but something didn't sit right with him using Tony's misfortune. Then again, him saying anything didn't sit right with him. He had argued with Moira for days about seeing a therapist for his emotional burdens, and still didn't trust a therapist with them, which was probably why he was where he was.

He lowered his eyes to the floor. Damnit all. "This world is made up of dreams. I don't need to tell you this." He finally said, starting again.

She hesitantly shuffled out of his lap and onto the bed, managing to be a little more graceful than she had been when she came into the mansion earlier. Not being able to feel the sheets beneath her was weird though. Probably weirder because she knew what it would feel like. Just like she knew what it felt like to be sitting in Charles' lap moments before. But she could only imagine it.

"I figured I wasn't the only one, but I shouldn't have just assumed. I mean, telling people about their future is kind of weird anyway..." like her supposed future should she stay in Promenade. That was...yeah, she wasn't sure yet if she liked that. Or she just didn't like knowing about it before it happened and then having it taken away like that, "'Shouldn't have treated you differently just because of that. In fact I should have just treated you like any other guy-- which I kind of did sometimes. Only I didn't actually sleep with you and that's kind of...different." really different for her. Oh god what was wrong with her?

She sighed, folding her arms along her stomach and staring at the ceiling, "All dreams come to an end." oh, look. She might have gotten it.

"I prefer it when you don't treat me like 'another guy.'" Charles said softly, finally looking up at her. The problem she had with relationships was they never spoke about their feelings, wasn't it? That certainly wasn't going to be a problem here. He only had problems talking about things that related to the issues he didn't want people to know about. "Because, honestly, I'm not. I talk about wanting to be apart of humanity and living peacefully with them, because I do, but I'm not a human. I'm a mutant. You can't treat me like a normal person simply because I can read your mind. It's entirely an unfair advantage, I'm aware, but I am what I am."

He paused. "And, thankfully, you have no problem with me being what I am or who I am." That was to mean being a telepath, not the fact that he was Professor X.

Charles gave a small smile before looking down again. "I'm afraid that... it's a dream I can't accept." His eyes flicked upwards to catch her reaction. "I'm sorry, Noah. For all the ridiculous frustration that it causes. For all complaining that I do when I know I can simply just accept that I could walk and start walking again. But, I can't. I can't..."

It sounded pathetic when he admitted it out loud, but there it was. He shook his head, hoping like hell that he didn't sound or look as emotional as he felt. "I can't have that taken away from me again. I can't."

"Well--that's not what I meant, either," she was really bad with words around him today, "I just meant that I should have treated you like a person instead of some idol I knew about from when I was a kid. It's like when people meet celebrities and treat them differently because they think they want to be treated that way, but they don't. They just want to be like everyone else, and I know you technically can't be...but that's what I like about you?" which was still BESIDE THE POINT, "You get me, because you're in my head. It's kind of refreshing." and yeah, the lack of shared feelings pretty much did it.

She continued to frown up at the ceiling instead of at him directly, "So you don't want to because you don't want to lose your ability to walk all over again. I guess that makes sense," on the other hand, "But, if I were you, I would just take advantage of what I could get for the time being and walk my heart out." that was her though, and maybe if she was actually in the situation he was in, she would change her mind.

"I know that after this is done, I'm going to just go around touching and feeling everything." not exactly the same thing, but close enough. She rolled over on the bed, leaning over the edge so she could cup his face in her hands as gently as she hoped she was, "Just so you know. Walking doesn't make you a man, it's being able to stand up for what you believe in and stick to your decisions. So stay in that wheelchair, but don't ever lose hope."

Charles was going to comment about how Tony 'got her', despite not being a mutant, but instead of being close with Tony, she was with him. He was going to, but then she cradled his face and that train of thought disappeared. His attention went to what she was saying, as opposed to what she was thinking, which was a feat in itself. His hand went up to her wrist, holding onto it for a moment as he listened to what she was saying. A smile crossed his face, even if it was rather bitter and broken looking.

"You're the stronger of us, my dear, that's why you would do that." He said softly. For all her faults and commitment issues, Noah didn't let things stop her. He admired her so much for that. His eyes closed as he turned his head by a small fraction, kissing the palm of her hand.

"It's not a symbol of my decision or disagreement with Erik." Charles continued to speak softly, as if the conversation had grown so intimate he didn't want others hearing it, even if they were the only ones in the mansion. "If the circumstances on how I became paralyzed where different, I believe I would, but..." it was tied to too many things.

With his eyes still closed, he mouthed the words 'thank you' against her palm, only to remember she couldn't feel it. Just as with many other things that had happened in their long conversation, it hit him hard. He couldn't share things the way he wanted to because she had to try and help people.

Pushing aside how much it bothered him, Charles leaned forward as far as he could, brushing his nose up against the side of hers. "Thank you," he whispered, gently nudging his nose against hers.

Tony did get her, just like she got him, but in an entirely different way. He wasn't in her head like Charles was, they were just so much alike that they might as well have been cut from the same cloth. So the need for telepathy wasn't really there.

She shook her head, "No, not strong. Just stupid," she joked, trying to lighten the mood at least a little bit so he wouldn't look like a sad little puppy. It made her feel bad for doing the stupid things she had done so far, "Just do what you feel you need to do, Charles." if that meant staying in the wheelchair, then so be it. It's not like she had any right to object to that.

A small smile caused her lips to twitch upward slightly when he nuzzled against her like that, and even if she couldn't feel it, she knew from experience how it should have felt and tried to focus on that, "You're welcome," She whispered back, "Now get in the bed."

"I'm not entirely sure what I need to do." Charles admitted. Did he need to wake up? Did he need to get over his issues? He wasn't sure. Maybe that was the real reason why he hadn't signed up for the resistance. He had been in the city for only three weeks.

He gave a smile, pressing against her face for a moment. "I need to change first," he gave her that one certain smile he knew she liked, "then I will most certainly join you."

"You'll figure it out." She didn't know what she had to do either, so she was just sort of doing...anything, really. Anything to feel useful and to help the people that she actually liked here.

She grinned in response, "Fine. I'll be here. Don't be alarmed if you hear a crash or anything," she was kidding, obviously. Because her happy ass wasn't moving unless she had to.

That earned a laugh. "Now, that would be quite a feat, my dear. How you would manage to crash by remaining still on the bed must take an incredible amount of skill." He gave her a quick kiss before he pulled back and settled in the wheelchair again, heading towards the dresser.

She flopped back on the bed with a bounce after returning the kiss, "I'm a very talented woman. Don't underestimate me, Charles." She held her hand up, waggling her finger at him in a mock scolding motion, "I could fall off this bed somehow--not that I want to, even if I can't feel it. And crack my head on the side table or something."

"I could most certainly do without you breaking your skull open, Noah." Charles said as he opened the dresser, pulling the drawer open. With the t-shirt and pair of sweats in hand (rather in his lap), he moved back to the bed. "You are far too gorgeous to have anything like that happen to you. Not to mention it would be all over my bed and I would have to explain to Anthony how you injured yourself. It'd make things, over all, very awkward."

And, given their short past history, Charles had no problem changing in front of her. Though when it came to his pants, he pushed himself from the wheelchair onto the bed before changing. He had quite the system down when it came to it.

"You and me both," but, again, she'd rather have it happen now than when she could feel it. Maybe. She had actually cracked her head open before in Prom when Ratchet knocked her out of the sky thinking her jet was a Decepticon. Yeah...that was fun. She sure did love getting her head cracked open, "Yeah, let's try and avoid that so we don't have to tell Momma Tony." she said as she rolled over to face him.

Why yes, she certainly was ogling him while he was changing. Because she was shameless and since they couldn't actually bang, she might as well just enjoy the eye candy, right? Right. Logic.

"It is less telling Momma Anthony, and more about how I would have to find a very clever way as to not disclose your plans." He pointed out, running one of his hands through his hair.

It felt like a burden had been lifted off his shoulders, having told someone just a bit of what he kept inside, but he didn't want to rely on Noah too much. He was keeping a very close eye on their relationship and making sure it didn't cross the line into a realm where she wasn't comfortable.

He glanced over at her with is eyebrows raised playfully as he finished pulling on his bottom half. Charles leaned forward towards her, resting his weight on one of his arms. "You do realize that it doesn't have to be, as you phrased it, 'eye candy', don't you?"

"Unrelated, but I think it's hilarious that you call him Anthony. How much does that piss him off?" was it a lot? It was probably a lot because she used to do that when they were 'together' in the future or...whatever that was, and he hated it. Hence why it was said to begin with.

So long as he didn't start prancing -- uh...wheeling? -- around Promenade and screaming that he loved her then the uncomfortable line was pretty hard to cross.

She tilted her head and lifted her own brows up, "Oh? Enlighten me then."
