More private, away from the mill of people downstairs. Serves more expensive, rare wines and caters to the unique needs of some of the supernatural crowd. A perfect place for intimate conversation.
Initially, when she had learned about the party, Lior didn't even want to go. Not because she didn't want to see Ichigo and Shiro, but because she thought that they didn't want to see her. Since her conversation with the hollow after the ten-year-whatever-that-was, she felt like she had disappointed him and, by association, disappointed Ichigo.
But she had come, because Kanji had assured her that everything would be okay, and because she didn't want them to be even angrier at her if she didn't. But instead of being her usual peppy self and prancing around the place like nobody's business, after the surprise and such, Lior had hidden away in the lounge, trying to think of what she should say to make amends, if she even could.
She sat on one of the chairs, clad in the dress Kanji had dreamed up for her, and idly fiddling with the ring on her finger. If someone came in, she would smile at them and try and strike up conversation. She wasn't that anti-social today. Just nervous.
Drifting into the room for a moment, just to escape the noise down below, she was genuinely surprised to see the elf girl sitting here, essentially alone in the lounge. That was unusual. And to be so quiet and seemingly navel gazing was even stranger.
"I didn't see you arrive. Sorry for not greeting you."
Lior looked up when she heard her name, smiling at the other girl and straightening up a bit, "Hello, Rukia!" She said cheerfully, trying to play it off like she wasn't just sulking, "It's all right. There are a lot of people here, so I understand. How are you?"
Rukia's good at hiding her emotions. Really good. So it isnt hard to identify when someone else is as well. Standing across from the elf girl, she returns the smile.
"A little tired, but its worth it, the party is going so well." A smile, because that was the truth. It was good to see her friends happy after so much pain. "You should come down, I'm sure they'd love to see you."
"That's good. Hopefully you'll be able to rest once everyone goes home," even with Shiro and Ichigo being derp twins around the place. She already figured that was going to happen,
"Because Shiro was mad at me after the ten year ...thing. He called me weak and just...he sounded really disappointed, and I figured he didn't want to talk to me for a while."
Those eyebrows that climbed up so valiantly before took a nose dive back over her eyes. He called her what? Ugh, really... Sitting down beside the elf girl, Rukia offers her a sympathetic smile.
"Lior-san. Shiro is..." Childish? Selfish? Impulsive? Destructive? Reckless? Inconsiderate? Rude? Foolish? "Shiro only really lives in the moment. He doesn't consider the repercussions of what he says or does. He doesn't think about how they might affect others. So, you'll have to understand that when he says some things, he doesn't think about them the way most do. He was upset, he was upset with me too, but he got over it. And if he can get over my transgressions, yours were forgiven a long time ago."
She should have understood that by now, she had spent enough time with both Shiro and Ichigo to at least fathom a guess at how they worked. But, just like every other boy she knew, they threw her for a loop.
"I..." she frowned, "Are you sure they're not mad at me? I haven't talked to either of them since then." she wasn't even sure why she came here if she was just going to hide instead of trying to make amends, "I didn't mean to come here on their birthday and upset them or anything. Thank you though, Rukia."
They were boys on the teetering verge of manhood. If they managed to stay in one piece long enough to get there. Laws of nature dictated they be confusing, angry, volatile and exasperating.
"I promise you they're not mad. I would've know if they were." An honest smile here. If she knew anything, she knew Ichigo and she was starting to understand Shiro more and more. And just to prove how sincere she is about this, she reaches out to Lior, offering her hand. "Come on, there's only one way to settle this, I'll show you."
She looked at her hand. While she believed the girl, she was still somewhat hesitant on going up and actually talking to the two of them, just in case something came up again. She didn't want to ruin their birthday.
However, she had to take the chance. So she took a hold of Rukia's hand and hoisted herself up, "Okay, if you're sure...?"
The shinigami's hand is calloused and rough, a fact that Rukia didn't think of when she offered it. But her grip for such thin fingers is firm as she leads Lior down to the party.
Shiro is stalking around, trying to figure out who all ended up at this party. His plate is loaded with food, and he has a up of punch in his other hand. When he gets to the lounge, he spots Lior.
Alone. And looking sort of sad.
There would be none of that. Shiro walks over to her and offers her one of the treats he'd dreamed up personally; a cartoonish skull made from sugar and vanilla, a toothrotting treat if there ever was one.

Or she'll kick them straight through the ceiling, their birthday part or not.
