Who: Naoto (strayblade) and Roxas (dualstance) What: Talking about memories, or lack there of Where: top of the clock tower When: right after this Warnings: tba if any..
He would have laughed at what she said, it was the oldest excuse in the book and who knows how many times he heard it from Hayner, despite the other blond not even owning a dog. But this was the first time meeting with Naoto and he didn't want to embarrass her anything like that. So he just settled for smiling in amusement. After all, that kind of thing does happen, right?
"Don't worry about it. I just got here a few minutes ago."
Truth was he lost track of time the moment he saw the clock tower, lost in the memories that he believed to be true despite being told otherwise. He could have been standing there for hours for all he knew, but that didn't matter much to him.
"Let's go to the top, watching the sunset's great from up there." Gesturing toward the entrance way, it would take a few to climb the stairs to the ledge, but it's a trek that he's taken so many times before, it doesn't bother him.
But then a thought occurred to him, one he should have considered before asking to meet her here. "You're not afraid of heights or anything right? If you are we can just sit on the steps here or go somewhere else."
"We can do that?" Naoto looked up at the clock tower, curious but not afraid. She shook her head, even offered a gentle smile to set his mind at ease when she answered. "I'm not afraid. Lead the way."
Not that heights were something she was exactly used to. Even the highest point in the underground was still...well, underground.
"Is this a place from your home?" Naoto looks up as they begin the climb. After years of training, a few stairs won't be enough to bother her either.
"Yeah surprisingly. I didn't expect it to be here."
There were a lot of things he didn't expect, most a lot more unpleasant than others but at least he can count this one to be one of the more pleasant surprises. The clock tower gave him comfort, a sense of belonging somewhere even if it was just a meeting place between friends. But those were the best memories he had, nothing else could really compare to the times when they would just sit there and watch the sunset while eating ice cream.
He'd only hung out with his friends here. Since he was bringing Naoto, did that mean he thought of her as a friend? She was willing to hear his problems, so he supposed so.
"My friends and I used to come up here every day to watch the sunset and eat ice cream. I always looked forward to that time of day."
i'm so sorry for the lateness! x.x it was a crazy week.straybladeJuly 10 2011, 01:04:36 UTC
"Ice cream." Naoto's eyes widen at the mention of that. But then her expression softens again, turns sad. "My friend and I did that once, at a place that was familiar to us." But only after they came here. Only that one time. ...And never again.
"I haven't found a place like that myself." Since the aforementioned church was more his place of solace. "I've often wondered what that meant."
Naoto catches her breath when they reach the top - not from fatigue, but from the view.
don't worry about it! my schedule just got crazy @__@dualstanceJuly 11 2011, 04:43:29 UTC
"Yeah." That single word is said in a breath as Roxas takes in the view as well. It's one he's missed dearly, never mind the seemingly time difference between when he closed his eyes while standing in front of Sora and then opening them in a place he's never seen before.
He gestures over to the ledge and promptly sits down in his usual spot there, legs swinging over the side. There's no fear of heights, no fear of falling over, just a peace at being back in such a familiar place. Almost like his problems fading away into nothing.
Almost.
"I figure this is the best place to talk because I actually know it and it's comfortable. Plus, no one can really hear us from up here." A wry smile makes its way to his face. "I just don't know where to start."
ditto. x.x my boss went on vacation and then i got sick.straybladeJuly 15 2011, 00:20:05 UTC
Naoto followed him, and though she wasn't overly afraid of heights, she was cautious, especially near the edge. She smooths her skirt beneath her as she sits down, taking a moment to study him in profile. That he can smile at all, even with that tinge of bitterness, is admirable.
"It's not an easy thing." Naoto clasped her hands in her lap and looked down at them. "What's the earliest thing you do remember?"
orz late forever and ever I'm sorry T__TdualstanceJuly 23 2011, 18:48:08 UTC
"Kinda hard to say." And it really is.
Considering most of his earliest memories aren't even his, that's where it gets difficult. The flashbacks aren't constant, scattered over a period of time and always of a different world. But there are other flashes, ones that occur whenever something happens to him and not Sora. And it's those that he holds on to, knowing that they're his memories and not someone else's.
"The thing is, the memories that I do have, most of them aren't mine." That's the first time he actually admit it out loud and hearing it just confirms a little more what the others have said about him. That he isn't who he believes (and still does) he is.
