[ As promised, here's Ichigo. It's early afternoon, but he's spent a little time looking through Blaine's Place of Solace for a suitable space. And, finding a large, open room with only a few desks to

So now he's checking out his current prospect, something he thought he'd look into because he's been made quite aware that without his partner, he's next to useless in a scrap. Appropriately dressed according to the note on the schedule he'd loaded onto his PORTAL, he casually walks into the room and gives it a quick study before giving his new teacher a casual wave as a greeting.]
Uh, is this the self-defense class?
Reply
Yeah. Hi, what's your name?
[ Checking against his list! Don't worry, it's just so he can keep who is who straight. Ichigo isn't so good with names. ]

[He offers his hand to shake.]

Cool. So, we're making up class levels - just so people aren't re-learning the same stuff over, and over. Do you have any experience, or training, or anything?
Reply
Plenty of experience. I'm an air pirate on vacation as a body guard where I'm from... just I can't do anything really cool without my partner.

[ Setting his PORTAL down, he straightens back up, holding his arms loosely out to his sides. ]
Hit me. Come on, give me your best shot.

My best shot, huh?
[Still, Cou's looking to impress -he can't be blamed for being a little bit of a show off. It just comes naturally to him.
He starts by cracking his knuckles and getting that cocky grin on his face. Then the way he shifts from just standing there into a fighting stance says his talk of experience at least isn't a bluff. In a moment he throws a pretty hard straight punch aimed center for his teacher's chest... partly wondering if the next part was going to be where he gets flipped over the guy's shoulder and onto the mat.]

...So, you know how to throw a punch. There's three different classes, really. Max is taking on the "Advanced" classes, with me, or Madsen helping out when needed. Madsen is looking after the "Intermediates"; people who know a little about fighting. Me, though, I'm looking after the Beginners. The ones that haven't the first clue about how to throw a punch, or even get out of a choke hold.
But, I got a question. If you already knew some stuff, what are you hoping to learn from us?

And then there was that question, but it's one that he actually was ready to answer.]
I guess the best way to put it is to stop being so useless when stuff happens and things go really wrong. Like the kind really wrong that ends in us having to fight if we wanna get out or get some one else out alive.
[He pauses a moment, trying to think of the best way to explain things. But Ichigo, as always, seems to be giving off that nice guy vibe and it's probably why the blond is talking to him about this.]Okay, this is gonna sound weird, but it'll sorta make sense when I'm done. Where I'm from, I usually fight with a partner. She's a little shorter than me, falls asleep a lot -anyway, she turns into a sword. And when she's ( ... )

I didn't go with either underwater team - mostly because at the time, a lot was happening all at once for me. But, turns out, that psycho from under the sea was responsible for kidnapping a bunch of people - right after those mist-things had hold of everyone.
Anyway, that's not the point.
I know what that's like though, man. I was exactly where you are once. But, here's the thing; wanting to be useful is cool. But, just because other people around you are stronger doesn't mean you are useless. I'll stick you in the "Intermediate" class, Madsen is smart, and strong. She'll sort you out.
[ Ichigo has always been able to go toe, to toe with strong people. As long as he pushed, his power would answer - so to him? Being useless is awful, but being pitied by his friends was even worse. ]

Ichigo's words don't fall on deaf ears; it's modestly comforting to the pirate, but doesn't change his resolve to want to improve himself. After all, what if the next time things got serious, one of his new friends here was in trouble or if someone else from his world showed up. It's the sort of thing he wouldn't want to sit on the sidelines for.]
I know, I still wanna make a difference though. But yeah, that sounds fine by me. Thanks.
[This is about where Cou will offer his fist for bro-fist.]
