[LET'S DISCUSS.] showmeshinies January 11 2011, 16:33:11 UTC
[Once everyone has gathered, Jarlaxle invites everyone to gather 'round, so he can share his thoughts. His plans include:

1. checking every single mirror in the city to see if they are displaying illusions or reality. The more mirrors checked, he figures, the more likely they are to find something out, as one is bound to falter. Jarlaxle proposes using magic for this.

2. Get a proper headcount.

3. Find out when everybody came in, and from where. He hypothesizes that perhaps a pattern might be found.

4. Hunting down a library and quietly interrogating as many locals as possible to see if they can find out any more information regarding:
-the King and Queen
-the magic governing the day to night to day shifts - maybe somebody can find a way to break it?
-Trollface Heda Genero
-the Palace
-these places of solace.

5. Setting up some kind of way to keep track of new information and for everybody to keep in touch with these things in a way that Trollface Heda Genero and other potential enemies cannot find out ( ... )

... It's all useful information. Thanks. [ Some of it he'd known, some of it he hadn't. ]

My team will be working to get as much information as possible- we're used to that sort of thing. So you have our hands in if we find anything unique out. I'll be searching the city starting tomorrow...

... I'm personally interested in the Exile.

he was lying when he said he didn't mind over portal, you asshole. hmph fuckmyaltitude January 11 2011, 20:52:18 UTC
[ Edward has an arm draped over his chair and another on his knee. He nods in Souji's direction and picks up where the other man left off. ]

I'm interested in The Exile, too. Been thinking these machines [ pats his pocket ] might be their doing. But... I don't understand why that Genero guy has one if that's true. They're obviously enemies. So if the machines were actually given to us by Genero and company, why did we get a note from The Exile in our rooms? How did they do it?

[ Takes aforementioned monstrosity of a machine out. ]

This guy already took care of when people showed up. I'm guessing the "where" is just as variable.

[ ooc: I-i hope threadjacking is okay! If not, I'll put this in a separate thread. Thank you. ]

Yeah, I saw that... it's just natural to follow a trail so obviously hidden that you need to pursue it. The Exile is going to be important... call it a hunch.

Between the people who made themselves obvious as a part of this world... the King, the Queen, Genero, so on... we don't know who to trust. Let's be careful from here on out.

[ ooc; it's cool by me! ]

[He nods through their conversation, and interrupts.] You have a team? I would be interested to know as well the non-unique information. It is in my experience that even the smallest details can prove useful.

I suppose the biggest issue would be then how we should identify new enemies and go about our business without informing them what we're up to.

I do. Not all of them are here, but most are. Supernatural experiences, mysteries... solving them sort of became our thing over the past year.

I think that while there's plenty of new people along with us, that's not a reason to trust everyone. Some people can have ill intent no matter where they go- but excluding people based on that is a bad idea too. We're all pretty much in the dark for now, I say we press on until things get a little more clear.

People who want to help will make themselves known; those who don't... well, pressing them for information depends on evidence.

And I doubt whatever we encrypt over PORTAL won't be visible to whoever gave us access to the network in the first place. But we can't set up strict dates for meetings because they'll be easy to discover. The same group getting together at the same time always looks suspicious.

[ He nods in Souji's direction again. ]

We shouldn't make enemies out of people who're in our situation, at least... but we should probably steer clear of people who get chummy with the locals.

You both raise very good points.

[He hmmms for a moment, weighing his options.]

If I could get my hands on the right book, I'm fairly certain I could manage to contact others via... other means. Or if I had access to certain associates of mine, that would be no problem either.

We could also have only certain people meet occasionally with others and pass the messages on that way, though that tends to get troublesome. [He sighs, missing his grumpy psionicist.]

And I agree - anyone getting too friendly with the locals should not be included in discussions. They may be a spy.

Still, the locals might be hiding something... [ a pause ]

Or do you think we should find a way to the top of the ranks first? We probably won't get to speak directly to the King and Queen soon, but maybe...

I don't recommend it. If there's any other way we can get information out of the locals without talking to them or the resident royalty, that'd be best. The more familiar our faces get, the less Genero's going to leave us alone.

[ Speaking of hidden things! To Souji - ]

Jarlaxle and I did some digging under the palace the other day, around the gardens. Found a big... magic wall. Completely impenetrable. That in your area of expertise?

[Jarlaxle will come back to the infiltration thing later. For now he looks to Souji, because he's curious too.]

Not quite. But I have a friend who has abilities... she can sense things you can't see or find. I can bring her there.

Perfect. You remember its location, right, Jarlaxle? I'm thinking we should hit the place up again at night.

I think so as well. I know how to get there and I have a way to see perfectly clearly in the dark. My only concern with returning at night is the telepathy issue. I can block my own thoughts, but how many of you have mastered controlling yours yet, or who those thoughts get broadcast to?

Rise's getting a hang of it... I'm sure she'll do fine.

When do you want to carry this out?

In, what, a couple days? We need to get organized and check out who hangs around the palace at night. I should be fine on the... telepathy front, too.

[ And turning to Souji - ]

What's your name again?
