Naoki hadn't had a too different reaction. He had jerked, startled, eyes flaring in their hue briefly (less yellow and more orange on the borders of red) before instincts had told him there was no danger. There was no attacker or demon or--

He had scratched at his hair, blinking in utter bemusement. Maybe it had just been a bug? Eventually he had gone on. Which lead to where he was now, meandering down the street and noticing a familiar head of hair and clothes from a distance. It makes him perk up and Naoki picks up his pace slightly, jogging toward Ted.

Naoki slowed to a stop in front of him, offering a faint (if cheery) grin. He was getting more comfortable with it, little by little. That Ted was the type of person that he was helped Naoki relax, by extension. And he, for the most part? Seems not to pay much mind to the mask. Given long enough, he will start itching under the edges of it, though. The lack of them at night is the only thing he likes about that time of day.

"Hey, Ted. What brings you out here?" He glanced around the area before returning his focus back to the other.

"Yup. I thought I'd just go to the park for a little bit today." That was to say, his park. It was his place of solace, after all. And he was somewhat fond of it--he missed home, it was a given that something familiar would be soothing. "See anything interesting today?" A casually posed question as Naoki tilts his head--as though to ask 'let's walk and talk?'

Naoki was oblivious to those thoughts--but not the urge niggling at the back of his own mind. Growing steadily and it's so absurd that he's just trying to ignore it. Because why in the world would he want to do that anyway? It just didn't make sense.

"I guess even as big as this place is, there isn't always something going on to see," he mused, half to himself, half to Ted. "...always lots've people to meet, though."

Naoki dipped his head in an agreeable nod and tucked his hands in his pockets. If he got just a bit further ahead of him, maybe that'd be easier. Y-yeah. Easier! "Yup! This way. Try to keep up." It's said in a light, joking tone of voice as he glances back over one shoulder at the other with a grin.

"...Eh?" Naoki paused and stared over at him. The statement was so out of the blue and--pfffff, it made him want to laugh and he had to bite the inside of his cheek to contain it. But he felt...flattered? For some odd reason.

Weird.

Another moment and then Naoki nodded with a light shrug of his shoulders, turning to lead the way. "Yeah, sure!" He resisted the urge to ask if Ted was all right as he walked, eyes seeking out the familiar place--aha, there it was. He'd memorised the way to it from his house, could tell you how long it'd get to get there in minutes. He'd been there enough times, after all.

Naoki grinned faintly as they reached the park--his park--and wandered further into it, glancing back over one shoulder and beckoning for Ted to follow. "What do you think?" he asked, cheerily. There were words lingering at the tip of his tongue, words he...well, wouldn't normally say.

And really, it was getting harder and harder to keep from saying them.
