Blade couldn't sleep that night and decided to take a stroll around Promenade himself. He shifted into a cat taking the form of a scrawny gray tom with a tear in one ear. He stretched and then hopped down from the bed and made his way out of the door.

He shivered feeling the mud between his toes and quickly leapt onto the sidewalk. He looked around as he walked.

'Well I have to admit. Promenade is rather lovely at night.'

He walked past a few houses watching for any people standing around. He would try to remember them and the house they were near. He heard the voice of another.

'Wouldn't it though? I do hope anyone who was unlucky enough to be given that task was given a handsome amount of compensation.'?

Saash had found a perch on a low brick wall outside of one of the houses, having paused to take in the view. She'd been sprawled out across the top bricks, but the voice brought her back up into a sit.

The job would never be done. How would they even measure what the amount could be in that case?

She searched the area for the source of the voice and was surprised when she found it. Was it that other cat? Really? The tortoiseshell hunkered down on her perch and watched the tom's approach.

Hunt's luck, she offered as greeting. Was that you speaking?

He paused for a moment looking up when he heard the reply. "They could always measure by the acre." He saw the other speaker was a cat as well. He tilted his head a bit , looking over the other cat. His first instinct was to wonder if she was also a shapeshifter.

"Erm...sure" he gave a slightly confused look, wondering what that meant. Upon closer inspection one might notice that he had an ovalish marking around his eyes. "Yes. Name's Blade. Are you always a cat?." If she was a shapeshifter (though he was starting to doubt it0 the question would make sense. If she wasn't then he would just look odd. Oh well.

Strange markings for a cat, but considering that the other cat just asked about 'shapeshifters', Saash could fall back on the assumption that this was not really a cat. That was too bad.

I've always been a cat. Hello, Blade. Yeah, definitely not a cat with a weird name like that. So. Shapeshifters, hm?

"Oh alright then" he twitched an ear looking a bit sheepish.

"Yeah. Where I'm from there's two types. I'm a human-to-animal shapeshifter. I can turn into any animal on the physical plane, but I can't change my appearance as a human."

The first part of that last statement was said with a bit of pride, but the latter half sounded a bit regretful. "Fair trade-off I'd suppose. So what's your name?"

Is the other type an animal-to-ehhif shapeshifter? Saash may have been surprised to see another cat after to many humans, but the shapeshifter business, not so much. She knew wizardries existed to pull off stunts like that, just not easily. She would admit that 'every animal' was impressive, at least. The cat gave her tail a lazy flit.

I'm Saash.

Pardon my asking but what exactly is an ehhif?

It means mankind. Saash rose up to stand and stretched out, yawning as she did. Hhm. The cat considered the possibilities of a same species to same species shift. It sounded unusual. So the man-to-man one would just switch between identities? Well isn't that shady sounding.
