[ Well, the phrase "don't bring a knife to a gun fight" doesn't apply here. You'll see soon enough, Heine. For now, Ichigo glances once behind them after turning the winding curve of the path, and checks to make sure the trees, and shrubs are blocking the view. ]

I first woke up here. Katara-san found me somewhere out in there, and showed me the way to the city. Be careful with these paths, they all loop back around.

[ After going a little further - just enough so that the castle was barely visible over the tops of trees in the distance - Ichigo figured this was as secluded as it got. So, he put a little more distance between his pace, and Heine's, and reached over his shoulder to draw his sword.

Standing with his back to the white haired man, Ichigo seemed to take a relieved breath. ]

I dunno how good you are, so don't be offended if I don't go all out.

[ And turning side-on, he raises the huge cleaver-shaped sword, and extends one arm out entirely. For all of Zangetsu's size, Ichigo wields his zanpakutou like it's a literal extension of his arm. He doesn't waver under the weight. ]

[ Wow. Heine was fast, no denying that. And in shikai, Ichigo's speed was nothing to sniff at, either. But not quite up to the standard for dodging a hail of bullets. Still, a burst of shunpo made Ichigo seem to blur into nothing, then blur back into existence roughly a foot, or so from his original position. This time with the flat of Zangetsu slashing at Heine's solar plexis.

Like Heine, Ichigo wasn't keen on decapitating the guy on accident. Better to see what the cynical, though intelligent man was capable of, first. ]

[ Ducking under that arm quickly, Ichigo grits his teeth, and skids into a crouch; Zangetsu still angled across his body to defend. ]

Why aren't you firing?

So you are too? Fair enough.

[ Standing up straight, again, and looking at Heine with a thoughtful frown. ]

Then I guess I'd better get a little more serious, ne?

[ One, and two quick steps of shunpo lets Ichigo put a little bit more distance between himself, and Heine. Mostly, so he could extend his arm, Zangetsu held out straight, and pointed in Heine's direction, left hand on right wrist. ]

Ban-kai!

[ And with an explosion that sent the trees bending away from it, and kicking up a fair amount of dust, and reishi from the Paths, themselves, Ichigo is obscured for a few seconds in an explosion of black, and crimson energy.

...But, a pointed swipe of his sword clears the majority of it away from around him. Everything, from his haori, to the long black daito replacing the huge cleaver is different. And more than that, it's a look in his eye.
Ichigo isn't much for using his bankai just for showing off, but if Heine was refusing to really fight, then it was only fair to take that first step, wasn't it?

Or, well, in this case, take that first leap into the air, and make a huge, overhand strike downwards toward where Heine still stood on the ground. ]
