too close to finishing school...

As I begin my last year of school, I am narrowing in my selections for future employment. My practicum with the State, DHS has been educational, but I am not sure if that's where I intially want to seek employment for the rest of my life. I will keep some notes here for the future when seeking a job elsewhere.

I also attended a conference the other day in Chicago and was amongst mainly private rehabilitation counselors in the forensic setting. That track seems interesting, yet I do not find myself prepared to be able to defend someone in front of the courts! I think I would need ALOT more experience in the field. Albrecht vs. Industrial commission? He claimed that his career was cut short early and therefore was entitled 100% of his salary for the duration that he will be permanently disabled. I know the laws inside and out and understand how I could use the Worker's Compensation Act to defend him... but still! Thats alot of attention and alot of money being involved! Wow!!

My next 8 weeks is going to be at a college (Kish or Harper). Both directors of both Disability services departments are graduates of NIU with my degree. I will learn alot from them and hopefully gain insightful expereience.

I have an interview with Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago next Monday. It would be a good experience but it is unpaid. I'm still waiting to her from PA OVR about setting up the interview for a paid internship. We'll see!
