del giorno bellissimo!

I just came back from the Independence Day celebrations. It was really spectacular. I went down with the immunologist from my lab and her friends to Schoenberg Park in the city of Manchester. They were playing live music (saxophones, drums and electric guitars)... kinda groovy! and then while we were eating our caesar salad and hot wings, it began to rain, and I ran off with my friend to my car and we drove off to Castle Wood State Park in Ballwin. It was really nice because there was a beautiful park right smack in the middle of mountains, as if it was a house with 4 walls around it. And then we ended up at the Grand Basin of Forest Park and ate our dinner. Finally, I drove up the highway by the Arch to see the fireworks (spectacular spectacular), and then crossed mississippi into Illinois, and saw Illinois' state fireworks too, before coming back! haha... two state fireworks in one nite, and driving under it too! Wheeeee! What a wonderful day! To explain why the day was wonderful (all of the above doesn't count, please see below:

Italy beat Germany 2-0!!!!

First goal by Grosso. Well executed after a spectacular pass from Pirlo, who happens to be the man of the match!

Give Pirlo another 4 years and he will be as good as Zidane in the midfield! (yes, I know ballack is good, but come on, the italians really deserved to beat the germans in this match. they possessed the ball more often, created better opportunities, had 2 veeeeeeeeery-close-goals, and had WAY less fouls than the german team. what more can you expect?)

And then lippi subs del piero in and he gets in another goal in stoppage time! so the two goals were within 2 min of each (119th and 121th, I think).

Odonhor (or whatever his name is) is always playing rough. And I think everyone can see that. He was so anxious to get the equaliser that he lost the ball to the azzurri.

Great work on zambrotta's side too!

Cannavaro's defence was wonderful too! Basically, I feel that the juventus players in this game are all damn strong!

And who can forget Buffon, the only goalie who hasn't let in a single enemy goal for the whole WC. You go man!

Jurgen isn't very happy about this but honestly, it could have been 4-1 again, you know? (plus, you kinda look like you are about to break into ballet dance or something like that)

Tmr's match between Portugal and France will be damn exciting. I want to give the portugese more credit, but I think that France will make it through. But that luis felipe really knows magic so it's hard to say. Either way, Germany should be pretty certain of a 3rd. And I think that the Azzurri should be able to win the cup this time around! Va va va!!!!
