I chanced across someone's blog yesterday, and I was really impressed by the way he writes about philosophy. I wish I had a better flair for writing, or a better grasp of philosophy.... Unfortunately, a minor in philosophy means exactly that, so I am going to be content with my minor grasp of philosophy and keep reading... *sad
I was having dinner at the treehouse with a friend (the chicken tostada salad and the quesadillas were really good!) and CNN was reporting on Clinton and Obama in Indiana and North Carolina. Obama won NC, and Clinton beat him by like 1 or 2 % in Indiana. Bill and Chelsea Clinton stood behind Hillary Clinton as she gave her "victory speech" (not so "victorious" since no one could confirm that she actually beat Obama in Indiana since she had a razor-thin lead and until 100% of the votes were counted, it wasn't final) and they portrayed a "happy family" image. I say that only because I can never forget how 4 years ago, John Kerry and Teresa Heinz were made out to be an "unhappy family" by political opponents since Kerry had divorced his previous wife and Heinz was too "career-oriented" with her ketchup business (well, better than Mrs Bush whose only "real job" was, no offense, being a librarian).
You know what, fuck this whole "politically-right" politician business. What makes you think that a politician who went to an Ivy, married a wife (and stayed married to her) and had 3 kids who also went to ivies is necessarily good for the job? People just like to deceive themselves and only choose to see what they want to see. Larry Craig was married too, and was senator of ultra-conservative Idaho. Look what he did in the bathroom? How do you "accidentally" perform all the signals soliciting for sex in the bathroom? I think otherwise, Mr. Craig.
Anyway, it's no surprise that Bill and Chelsea Clinton have been busy campaigning for their wife/mother. The news reported that Bill Clinton was "sun-burned" from campaigning in NC for his wife (umm... ok, i got sun-burned from going to the beach at santa cruz last week too), and that Chelsea Clinton looked like her "heart was being broken" when her mom gave a speech in Indiana. I thought she looked incredibly upbeat and happy, how on earth does CNN see stuff that we all don't? Anyway, ranting aside, my friend was describing to me how Chelsea Clinton was surrounded by frat boys when she was at Stanford and apparently she's "way more attractive now than she was then" (is that a compliment or not??? everyone speaks in circles nowadays!). Well my point is that when she came recently to the campus to speak for her mom, her dearest ex-sorority decided to make the event an exclusive one, so only the sorority sisters were allowed to attend. HELLO! SHE'S CAMPAIGNING FOR HER MOM! ONLY SORORITY SISTERS GET TO ATTEND???? R U FUCKING KIDDING ME? It probably comes as no surprise that the majority of the stanford campus supports Obama, but Clinton won California pretty easily.
I don't know why I keep ranting on and on. Maybe it's just the shock 4 years ago that Bush actually was re-elected to president! ok, fine, maybe he never really "won" the first time, but I was genuinely shaken that the people of america actually RE-ELECTED him a second time. I will never forget how he and kerry came to WashU to debate and while listening to them, I was like "wow, obviously kerry is the stronger one... bush stutters all the time and talks crap!". Uh-uh. Apparently, he's DA MAN. My point is, whatever happens this time, I think we need fresh leadership, and biased as I am, I am hoping it's a Democrat. I'm just somewhat appalled to see Obama and Clinton fight it out while McCain laughs in the corner and the other ex-republican candidate (that mormon guy) talks about how america is going to burn in hell because people watch porn (come on! it's fun, and it's even organic! ooh...)...
