1. christmas was good -- i got a very nice video camera and am now finally able to edit all those old tapes i made from last year into something wonderful. this was also the first christmas (meaning december 25th) i've ever spent here in virginia.
2. i spent a week in alabama starting on the 26th. it was...ehhhhh..you know. besides getting to see my beloved friend randy and the lovely emma and spending quality time with my bros, it was mediocre at best. i saw the life aquatic and meet the fockers as well as bought many many dvds (lots of national geographic and discovery channel miniseries and the first season of taboo).
3. new year's eve was so uneventful it hurt. earlier that day my dad took me to a movie and out to eat, and on the way home he asked me if bennington had any religious groups, and i went on to explain that most bennington students aren't really religious, i only know a very small few that go to church regularly. we then got into a big argument about religion which led into other topics like homosexuality, racism, abortion, and taxes. my dad is ridiculously conservative and vows he won't change his stance on things, so i tell him we should agree to disagree. this all put me in a bad mood so i decided not to go out at all, it turned out to be okay.
4. after eating some mexican food on sunday night i got really sick and was in extreme discomfort from that night until yesterday morning. it's awesome being able to eat things again -- before i could only manage to eat a couple of saltine crackers as a meal and drink gingerale. i went to the doctor and they are running tests to see whether or not it was salmonella or just a virus of sorts. the results don't really matter anymore seeing as i'm better.
5. while sick, i had to ride an amtrak train for 16 hours on monday to get back home. why on earth my dad didn't get me a plane ticket, i don't know. there's nothing i hate more than riding the train for that long, it's just impossible to get comfortable. luckily this time the girl who was sitting next to me was really nice and we watched the third harry potter on my laptop.
6. on tuesday i leave to go to montilla, spain, for fwt. i'm getting more excited about it all the time. being a nanny/english teacher for a month and a half will be an interesting experience. if anyone wants a postcard from spain, give me your address and i'll do my best to get one to you.
that about sums it up for now.
xoxo
