here's a little sample a photo collage project i did (the full version is ten squares) it's about 4 conversations i had about vermont in november. (talking with my mother about thanksgiving, talking with my father about hunting, talking with my grandmother about what vermont looks like right now, and talking with a woman i babysit for about quilts). it's kind of about the grittier, less postcard-ish look of vermont in fall... it's not just golden leaves.. there's mud and dirt and puddles and construction sites and trash, too. it was well received in class and both tedious and fun to make.. for my final project i'm making an even more complex quilt consisting of about 25 squares (each about 5"x5") that's an autobiographical piece. i'm going to get even more meticulous with patterns and color placement this time, and i think it will turn out nicely. but this is just a little sample from the first project -- it didn't scan in too well, so it looks much better in real life. all of the outside pictures were taken by me and the middle diamonds are from magazines. let me know what you think.
