random mind thoughts :
- Raisin toast with melted cheese on top has to be one of the most delicious things!
- The thing I hate most about wearing my work/professional clothes is that I have to tuck my shirt in. The most random thing to not like/be bugged about I know.
- I buy milk these days, never really did before, but its almost exclusively for my morning tea.
- I really am a slob =( I didnt think I was, just that I would sometimes let things get messy.
- I <3 Tiney ;) and Im sad I will miss the wedding
- Along with missing/missed a bunch of other peoples weddings while being here in Japan =/
The new school year and classes have FINALLY started!!!
I am so glad. This past month has been pretty mind melting as I am sure many of you have heard me say. Basically a month of sitting and doing nothing. I think I have given myself carpal tunnel from all the computer usage combined with poor ergonomics.
Yesterday, the "real" start of classes, was surprising busy even though I only had one class.
That's right, the teachers decided yesterday, the day before all the classes, was a great time to discuss what the new school year classes were going to be about... I was at work until just past 6:30. I normally go home at 4. Why couldn't we have discussed the plan when I was sitting on my ass doing nothing instead of cramming???
This school year will be interesting and probably a bit challenging. I hope I can make it through without wanting to tear my hair out. ESPECIALLY since I am staying another year... The biggest challenge will be with the 2nd years. This year, because of budget cuts, we have one less English teacher. This means that instead of splitting the classes 20 students and 20 students, the 2nd year classes will be 40 students at one time. With the two worst teachers and some of the worst students. 40 students is tooo many for good learning =(
And one of those teachers Y, omg, annoys the shit out of me. He is most likely to make me into a performing monkey and put me on the spot to pull stuff out of my ass. Many of his directions in English to the class make even me go WTF are you saying?? He was also a big turd during the department English meeting where I was trying to make classroom rule changes. He just sat there and didnt give any input. I know not all my ideas are gold! But ALL the teachers barely made any comments/suggestions even though I wanted to get their input =/ The one teacher also didnt give much input during the 2nd year meeting on what we should do for the first class. The other, is more likely to start class in Japanese and teach more in Japanese. She also doesnt have a strong personality and is a bit quiet. Last year, I didnt teach that many classes with her. When I did, I ended up taking over command and leading the classes.
I. am. not. looking. forward. to. 2nd. year. classes.
PLUS, the new rules that I got implemented, will be REALLY hard for the 2nd years to accomplish since there are so many of them in the class. And that's funny since I was trying to come up with ways to make specifically those classes better with more involvement.
SIIIIGH
Soooo, if any of you have ideas on how to get class participation up in a class of 40, surly, afraid of speaking out/going to the board and writing and answer on the board students I would love to hear it!
